How do I clean the tops of my kitchen cupboards?

I have tried vinegar and hot water but its just not cutting it - they are very greasy and basically all the dust has attached itself to the grease -lovely!-

So any tips on how to clean them up?

lol unquietdad - that was my first thought

Try flash degreaser spray. leave for ages and then most of ti should wipe off. This is actually conjecture though as I have never actually been up there and done it

ProjectSeverus · 16/07/2007 18:48

when you have done it put paper down for next time. Most of the yuck goeson the paper. Not as yeuch.

hippiPOTTERami · 17/07/2007 08:02

Oh gawd - there was a thread on this a while back. It stuck in my mind as I need to do the tops of my kitchen units.

I think the poster recommended either Borax or Bicarb. Can't remember which (did not stick in my mind so well then..

bozza · 17/07/2007 08:05

I was going to make the same suggestion as sevarus. I put sheets of newspaper along the tops. Tabloid style (our local rag) fit quite well.

ChudleyMintonCanons · 17/07/2007 08:08

Was going to suggest newspaper for next time...and have just realised my retro/vintage kitchen cupboards reach to the ceiling so i don't have this problem anymore. Those 1950's housewives knew a thing or two about labour -saving!

slinkyjo · 17/07/2007 08:10

try hot water and bicarbonate of soda, failing that hot water and washing powder
