washer-dryer

I'm moving house in and in need of a new washing machine. The kitchen in the new place is small and I'm considering getting a combined washer-dryer but a bit of googling suggests they're a bit crap.

Does anyone have one that they like and would recommend? I live alone so it wouldn't need to have a massive capacity or be in constant use. I do quite a lot of sport though, so probably do three loads a week.

I've considered a Miele but they are super expensive (£1400 Shock). I do generally prefer to buy a good thing once rather than replace a cheaper version several times over and could afford this if it'll actually be worth the expense.

Any advice appreciated!

Just don't. They are bad at being washing machines and terrrible at being dryers (take hours, crumple the clothes very badly etc.). Can you manage without a dryer? If you have storage space, the Lakeland Heated Airer is excellent.

I have one, and wouldn't recommend them.

ah, this isn't sounding very promising!

I don't have a dryer at the moment, but was hoping to get away from having clothes drying on an airer when the weather isn't good enough to hang on the line. I'll have a look at the Lakeland one.

My daughter has a Sharp washer/dryer (8kgs wash/6kgs dry) and is ideal for her needs. However, she lives alone and tends to wash every other day. (She has severe learning difficulties so either the carers or I tend to use it.)

The dryer works very well with relatively small amounts on the "Timed" drying I have found.

Hi I have a John Lewis, washer/dryer it much better than the previous neff one I had, has a large drum capacity & has different levels of drying which is useful, they are definitely not as good as separate machines but I’m happy enough with this one, came with a five year guarantee & was about £500.00.

I’ve got a (very expensive) AEG which I ‘inherited’ when I moved house. As a washer, it’s great - as a dryer, it’s rubbish! I also live alone so I’m quite happy to dry things overnight on an airer, it would have been useless when the kids were still home. That said, if you don’t have room for 2 machines it’s better than nothing, I do use it for jeans, towels etc in the winter.
