Slightly Bizarre - what do I clean DD's new dinghy with?

I tried the power washer (lazy) & the centre board (I think that's what it's called) came up fine

But the rudder has a layer of kinda faded grey over the white

Jif/vim & kitchen spray have had no effect

Please Help?

Is it plastic? It's impossible to keep eg plastic garden furniture looking like new - as long as it's actually clean, does it matter if it looks faded?

Katymac · 14/07/2007 12:03

I guess that

OP posts:
Katymac · 14/07/2007 12:06

but she wants it clean

OP posts:
WendyWeber · 14/07/2007 12:10

Ah - well, let her try to make it clean then

whinestein · 14/07/2007 12:10

The best thing to clean plastic with is washing powder.

Katymac · 14/07/2007 12:39

Bio or non?

Katymac · 14/07/2007 12:41

BTW flash doesn't work either

She is cleaning - I am supervising

I wish it was small enough to go in the dishwasher

Sorry - I was otherwise engaged/forced into the playhouse and made to lie down in bed whilst reading stories to my captor

I would always choose bio for anything that's not babys clothes, but I actually haven't excperimented to see if it makes a big difference on plastic cleaning tbh.

whinestein · 14/07/2007 13:15

excperimented?

Katymac · 14/07/2007 13:18

New word....nice

My dad has suggested Milton (the bio didn't work)

whinestein · 14/07/2007 13:29

Oh well - perhaps just works best on surface dirt.

Good luck with the Milton. You might have to resort to telling your daughter to live with it!

Katymac · 14/07/2007 14:24

She is coming round to that way of thinking atm

She might call it the dirty banana to save having to clean it anymore

Vim & a scouring pad seem to be the most effective

They just take such a bloody long time

OP posts:
WendyWeber · 14/07/2007 15:15

They will damage the surface too, katymac - it will get dirtier, and be harder to clean next time you try.

Try to convince DD that being clean is more important than looking clean

Katymac · 14/07/2007 15:59

Oh POO

That's a bummer

& now I find I have to use a heat gun on the whole thing to even out the colour and remove all the white (which is sun dmamge or bruising )

OP posts:
WendyWeber · 14/07/2007 16:12

Now I've seen the naming DD's boat thread, I'm wondering if it is plastic - is it, or wood?????

Katymac · 14/07/2007 18:48

Plastic (polypropoline) Very worried about it ever coming clean

OP posts:
Katymac · 14/07/2007 18:52

WendyWeber · 14/07/2007 18:54

Well the heat gun thing sounds promising (although scary)

Good luck

Katymac · 14/07/2007 19:14

Very scarey
