Paper...its everywhere

So.... here I am in my kitchen putting away dishes/glasses and I can't fit all of them as my kitchen presses are full with paper.....when mail/school notes etc come into the house they either get pinned to the fridge or jammed in the presses. What do you do with paperwork? What's your filing system....I don't have a messy house ( I think) but I have lots of paper hiding in presses...and drawers.

I read the letter if it has info on I need then I will put that on calendar or phone or both then usually letter goes in recycling or for DS to draw on. I can’t be doing with bits of paper hanging around either !

School paperwork- forms get filled in the same day they come home, and are put straight back in school bags for child to hand in the next day.

The letter with all the details on gets put on the fridge, with the date highlighted, and any important info highlighted also, (such as 'bring wellies').
School newsletters are read, and then binned.
They put a list of important dates at the end, which again I cut out and put on the fridge, highlighting any details relevant to my child. ie, I wouldn't highlight a yr4 trip if shes in yr6.

this "press" is the word used in Ireland for a cupboard

Kitchen cupboard - press
Airing cupboard - hot press

Just some riveting trivia for non Irish folk there.

I have a little box with a draw, stuff that needs filing upstairs to keep(I have 3 files on top shelf of wardrobe these get cleared out every 6 months, one for house/me/dh) gets put in the draw, stuff that needs attention and can’t be done that second gets put in the top. The little box gets sorted every time it’s full (once every couple of weeks). Most of the paperwork that comes into our house is automatically recycled. Appointments are written on the calendar, letter is recycled.

With school paperwork I take a photo of it, put dates on the calendar/ set phone alerts etc, return the bottom slip if needed and recycle the form straight away. Once the event has passed I delete the photo from my phone.
This stops paperwork getting to crazy level.

I bought one of these Magazine File Holder, Quadruple Desk File Organiser Magazine Holder Rack 4 Compartments for Document Books - Gray www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KTZ3KS1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4OySCbDG4JW2A and allocated one per person. Once full up the paper is either binned or filed in the proper filing cabinet in the office. Upcoming school events are stuck to the fridge so I am reminded but binned as soon as whichever event happens. We also use famcal the app which means I can bin a lot of the physical paper.

Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to reply....I need to be more diligent and deal with paper when it arrives.
TT - That product is exactly what I was looking for...even though I wasn't sure what I needed but it looks great as I have limited storage spaceSmile
