Is there a fast cycle washing machine available

spewy · 09/04/2019 09:18

In need of a new washing machine but all the new ones I've looked at seem to take an age to do a normal wash cycle.
There's plenty with "quick wash" but you can't put a full load in. Any recommendations please?

How fast does it need to be?

Rumbletum2 · 09/04/2019 09:25

loads have this function.

motortroll · 09/04/2019 09:26

I have a Hoover pic should be attached. It has a 59 min all in one cycle which I use loads or the rapid cycle option can be as short as 14 mins. It's a 9kg drum and I fill it on the 59 min cycle.

The only thing I'd say is that occasionally my husbands T-shirts need a longer cycle to get rid of the deodorant build up....but he does use half a can each morning!!!

Ours has a daily 59 min wash. Its a Hotpoint I think, only had it a few months - can't think of the model but was from Currys.

QforCucumber · 09/04/2019 09:27

Oh, it's not Hotpoint, it's the same as the above one!

ginghamstarfish · 09/04/2019 09:27

My Samsung Eco Bubble has a 15 minute wash, but I do most stuff on the 1 hour wash - I think that's pretty quick for a proper wash and spin.

DerbyRacer · 09/04/2019 09:31

My zanussi has a 40 mins at 40 degrees wash. I think there is another on that is under an hour and a 60 degrees that takes 1 hour 45 mins. Oh and a 30 mins at 30 degrees.

Elzbells · 09/04/2019 09:34

I have a Miele that has a 20 min cycle. I don't think there is a restriction on weight, I just chuck everything in and it washes fine.

Bisset · 09/04/2019 09:34

My Beko 10kg can do a small wash in 14 mins

Alwayscheerful · 09/04/2019 09:36

I have a zanussi with a 30 mins at 30 degrees
And
a Miele with a 20 min quick wash
Every 10 washes or so I do a very hot wash to keep the machine clean.

BertieBotts · 09/04/2019 09:36

I have an AEG which does have long cycles by default - about 4 hours - but you can press time saver and it will go down to about an hour on most of the programmes.

I am told that the long one doesn't use electricity the whole time as it incorporates long soaking periods, if that's what you're worried about.

thenightsky · 09/04/2019 09:39

My zanussi lies to me. It says 3 hours 40 mins when I switch it on. Then I turn my back for 10 mins to do something else, and when i look again it's dropped to 2 hours!

Plumpciousness · 09/04/2019 09:40

I've got a Bosch. Standard time for a 40 degree cotton wash is 2 hours 53 minutes but if you press the Eco button it reduces to 1 hour. I think you are supposed to put a smaller load in but I just fill it with a normal load and it's fine.

It seems to be the norm with modern washing machines - ridiculously long cycle times that no one wants to use but can be reduced by pressing a button. Why don't they do it the other way round?

BertieBotts · 11/04/2019 10:36

I use the long ones on mine, doesn't make much difference to me. I only do the short one if I know I need to fit in a couple of loads in one day or whatever.

Aw sod off with your scare mongering crap!

dementedpixie · 11/04/2019 15:25

And I'm not clicking on your dodgy link either

Mustbetimeforachange · 11/04/2019 15:26

The Miele 20 minute wash is 1-3Kg I think (and the one hour one is a half load?)

TunstallTansy · 11/04/2019 16:13

The Samsung Eco Bubble has a Daily Wash which is one hour.

bengalcat · 11/04/2019 16:15

No idea what I have but I do all my washes on a 30min cycle - works well

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 11/04/2019 16:16

I have the hoover one mentioned earlier and love the 14 min cycle. Use that the most.

dementedpixie · 11/04/2019 16:22

I just don't see how the short cycles would clean properly. I tend to use the daily wash on my Samsung eco bubble. I add 2 rinses to make 4 and the wash cycle ends up about 1h 25m. The cotton cycle is about 3 hours and that's the only wash you can do 9kg in. I tend to use it for dirty football/ rugby kit as it will use more water in the cycle

stucknoue · 11/04/2019 16:23

My 8kg beko has an hour wash, the shorter one doesn't clean properly

INeedNewShoes · 11/04/2019 16:24

My cheapie Indesit machine has an ecotime button that brings the 40 degree wash down to an hour.

spewy · 11/04/2019 16:59

Thanks everyone, I had a Hoover and washed most things on the 59 minute wash only to discover that it's only a 3kg program, the repair man said I've been overloading it all these years (should have read the instructions properly) Most of the new machines are the same.... short washes only take less than half a load!
