DH burnt something, how do I get rid of smoke smell

My DH was out last night, came home pissed and decided to fry somthing in wok but deep fat style
Anyway I woke up at 4.30 with DD to find houde full off that white smoke you get and stinking.
DH sound on sofa.
Smoke alarm battery still out from when a nan bread got burnt(wed)
How can I get rid of smell?
Got every window and door open

Is it supposed to be an onion cut in half in water that gets rid of smells?

Never tried it though.
I'd just keep doors/windows open.
