leave them alone, they only last a couple of days and then fly off.

fishie · 12/07/2007 21:20

RubySlippers · 12/07/2007 21:23

apparently, boiling water on the nest site works. But it also strikes me as totoally barbaric. I'd leave well alone

southeastastra · 12/07/2007 21:27

yes it kills them outright and you're left with lots of dead soggy ants with wings to get rid of

SpacePuppy · 12/07/2007 21:27

I had that problem, they can take up to 3 days to move, and if they move into your house can take weeks to get rid of them, so what did I do? I hoovered them every few hours...now they're all gone [evil grinning emoticon]

southeastastra · 12/07/2007 21:29

that's so nasty shame on you spacepupp

They keep coming into my kitchen. I am afraid i have been spraying them, had to there are hundreds of the buggers. But they are just moving along the edge of the room, no sooner do i get rid of one load of them than a few days later i get another swarm. They are driving me mad.

edam · 14/07/2007 23:20

Hey, I'm a vegetarian and don't generally believe in killing living things. But I make an exception for flying ants. Horrible things.

When we lived in London, the streets around our home were infested with the bloody things. There is no way I would risk them moving into my home!

edam · 14/07/2007 23:20

Flying ant seige of Battersea lasted six years, btw - every year the buggers would be back.

SlightlyMadSpider · 14/07/2007 23:22

Nippon liquid ina refillable trap is good for ants in general - not sure about fliers.

kidsrus · 14/07/2007 23:29

I use the washing up water on them it instantly stops them flying not sure if it kills them.
Inside i find their entrance and block it with ant powder.

RubySlippers · 15/07/2007 15:42

think they may have gone of their own accord

thanks for all the tips though
