Deep scratch on glass hob. Is there anything I can use to stop the scratch becoming bigger, or to seal it?

Hi there. Please can somebody help with my query?

A crack (?) or deep scratch has appeared on our glass hob, and I’m hoping there is a magical solution that can help seal it somehow?
This hob replaced our last hob for the same thing, so we can’t afford another hob.

Thanks and much appreciation in advance 💐💐💐💐💐xx

How did this mark appear? Has something been dropped or dragged across it? If it's a crack and nothing has been dropped on it then it's worth contacting the retailer first. It's possible there was a fault in the glass and you may get a repair or replacement.

I think a scratch and a crack are two different things.

I have a scratch in my glass hob and was thinking 'T-Cut' as it is used to take surface scratches off car paintwork. Haven't dared try tho yet!

It wouldn't touch a crack.

@wowfudge I’ve been extremely careful to use silicone mats on it at all times, so I’m not sure how it’s happened, which is so frustrating.

It was me that broke the last one as I think I dropped the marble pestal and mortar on it [embarrassed].

I might still ring the manufacturer, thanks. It’s not even 12 months old.

I don't think a scratch and a crack are two different things: they are definitely two different things!

It's possible it's something that has transferred from a pan and looks like a scratch but will come off with something like Bar Keeper's Friend. So try that first - it costs a couple of quid and is easy to use.

I’ve had another look and it’s more of a scratch, I think.
I don’t want it to spread, then turn into a crack.

I thought of T cut also, but I have reservations.
What’s the stuff they use on car windows when there’s a hole/crack that appears?

The last one was definitely a crack....

@wowfudge, thanks, I’ve never heard of Bar Keepers Friend. I’ll give it a go.

We have an induction hob and Bar Keeper's Friend removes all sorts of marks.
