George Forman grill things - are they worth it?

I've heard a couple of people recently singing the praises of the little grill thingy and I think it's just the kind of kitchen thing dp would like (I'm such a romantic when it comes to buying her stuff...). Are they any good or do they sit collecting dust after a few goes?

Used mine once a gift from the MIL, it's only the small one and certainly not big enough to cook for two. It is indeed in the cupboard collecting dust.

I love mine! it's sooo easy to clean - just wipe it over whilst still abit warm with kitchen roll, job done. No spitting of sausages round your grill setting off the smoke alarm.

i cook for 2 adults and a 6 year old on my small one

What I love about it is the speed. When I get in from work and want to do a proper dinner it is invaluabe.

Haven't used mine in ages, but liked it when we used it.

I love mine. I have found that it cooks meat/fish/chicken much more quickly and it stays a lot more moist than if it is cooked in an open grill. I tend to use it a couple of times a week.

I hate the bloody thing - was given one - it burns the outside, leaves in inside raw, and it's a bitch to clean.

Cooks fish lovely as well!

top cleaning tip for cleaning off meat juices, marinades etc - clean it whilst it's hot - reheat it and pour water on it (do this on the draining board) a quick scrub with the washing up brush and it is pristine once again

we use ours daily, it is brill for bacon, used it tonight for salmon was brilliant

sounds like it's a love 'em or hate 'em kind of thing.

Next dilemma is should we go for the little one or bigger one - kitchen's small so it would be better to get the little one, but would it fit on the number of sausages my ds's can get through..?

It doesnt get used ALL the time, but i do grill sausages, bacon, and all other 'fatty things' on it, to get as much 'crap' out of it as possible. I also grill fish and loads of other things in it as its easier than faffing with the frying pan/oven grill/'insert other faffy ways to cook here'
Mushrooms are FAB in it too!!!!
Mine is also in urgent need of a clean

I have a smaller one, i can fit about 8 sausages on it. Does that help?

Yes, clean it whilst it's still warm. Should just wipe clean.

I think they have brought out a new model with removeable plates. I love mine but hate cleaning it...

We've got the big one with removable plates. 3dcs plus dh and me. It's not big enought to do a whole meal so I still end up using pots and pans. Gathering dust now. Like the pasta machine, the juicer, the ... (hijack alert)
