Oven pride

Have treated myself to some oven pride, because my Friday nights are so rock n roll...

So, is it as magical as people say? Any hints?

Are you really meant to just rinse or do you have to scrub the racks?

It works like a dream on oven shelves and if you have the side brackets that pull out, those too. Also on the grill pans provided with ovens. Once they have soaked in the solution in the bag for a while - overnight or longer and turn the bag over to be sure it gets to all the muck - you only need to rinse them clean.

They're all in the bag soaking for the night!

I've just rubbed it around the oven a bit - is that as effective as the bag?

Is it wrong that I'm excited about this 😂

I love how shiny the racks and side brackets get but it doesn’t do a great job of the oven for me. A reasonable job on the base but no difference to the sides and top for me.
Let us know how yours does though in case I’m missing something!

I also take the glass out of the oven doors and put them in the bag. Not great inside oven liners are easier. Also good to give tiles behind a wipe with.
I have a crappy old oven that I use it daily so I'm sure it's more effective on a more modern (not so used) one! Wink

I've used it before and it was great! However it's pretty expensive. I saw some mock oven pride in the pound shop that I want to try instead! Anyone know if that works the same way?

It's good. The most exiting thing that's happened to me this evening eel is discovering Bar Keepers Friend and that's not to say the rest of my week has been poor, so if you're looking for something for next Friday...

justtakingabath · 01/02/2019 22:33

ooh bestseller I got some bar keepers the other day, it did miracles on my white kitchen table!

Bestseller · 01/02/2019 22:37

I know, I'm genuinely upset that it's too cold and dark to go and have a go at the front door now! And I'm really not a cleaning type as a rule which is why there are so many possibilities

kshaw · 01/02/2019 22:42

Wilkos BBQ cleaner is exactly the same and costs £1 ! Highly recommended

ilovemilton · 01/02/2019 23:05

I just googled barkeepers friend...is hat worthy of my next Friday night investment then?

I got some BKF free with my new stove. I haven’t used it yet.

creamcheeseandlox · 02/02/2019 09:36

Bar keepers friend is amazing at getting hard water marks off shower screens. I buy the powder. Put it on a scourer pad and rub it in circles over the wet screen. Leave for a few mins and rinse off. It will sparkle.

I didn't think you could put the oven glass into the oven pride bags? I use cif power and shine and a glass scraper.

ilovemilton · 02/02/2019 10:14

I have rinsed! Yes the shelves come up much better than the actual oven don't they...but I'm pretty sure that it was the shelves making it look like my house was on fire every time I cooked so I think we'll be ok!

I don’t understand that-are you saying the over liners go in the bags too? Or that they’re not great?

ilovemilton · 02/02/2019 11:04

Just need something to make the glass look better. I did use the oven pride on it but it's made zero difference.

Milton. Get some elbow grease or cif kitchen power and shine and a glass scraper. Spray on leave for 10 mins and get the scraper on it. Removes grime and baked on grime. Then wipe off with a damp cloth.

justtakingabath · 02/02/2019 14:49

dishwasher tablets are good for the glass, rub on leave for a little while and use with those wire soap pads. Does take a little scrubbing but works a treat.
