My house is back up for sale following a fallen sale. How do I make it smell nice? Any sprays I can put on the carpet? Any oils I have put behind the radiators? Any tried and tested methods please let me know.

Part baked bread in the oven and fresh flowers.

Nothing too fake -viewers might thinks you're trying to hide something

For selling a house; clean and fresh is my favourite.
I don't have anything too overpowering. I open all the windows regularly to get fresh air circulating and I have 2 reed diffusers (one downstairs and one upstairs same smell) usually from the white company-saychelles is my favourite.
A lot of the cleaning products smell quite chemically/harsh.

Definitely nothing fake. I really hate the smell of air freshener.

Don't make any kale crisps before viewings. 😊

I have a candle burning wax melt thingy. The yankee candle melts are so great. The whole of downstairs smells divine. It cost me £2 from b&m. And then the cost of yankee melts is about £3 .

Spritz white vinegar around the room, leave for an hour and that will get rid of stale smells

Just-washed clothes always smell lovely to me.

I wouldn’t trust the smell of bread warming in the oven - everyone knows it was a top tip on house-selling shows from the 1990s!

Isn't there a risk that your house will end up smelling like a fish and chip shop though? Smile

I'd be on the alert if I could smell baking or candles while taking a look around, and be checking for mold and damp.

Small cap of vanilla essence in the oven or bread baking. Diffusers in all bathrooms.

I'm very picky on artificial smells but Sainsbury's own range of candles and Reed diffusers are lovely atm I think mines pink grapefruit and something - it's fresh but not over-powering, lasts ages and lots of people comment on it (positively!)

Open all the windows for a while, clean and fresh is the best smell I think. I once went to view a house that really smelt of bleach and dog, I got as far as the stairs before saying no thanks and leaving.
