As the opposite to the gadgets you've got rid of, which ones have you kept?

My favourite kitchen things are my Kenwood stand mixer, my electric pressure cooker, my magimix, my pod coffee machine and various really sharp knives! The PKP is winning on usage terms atm. What about you?

Soda Stream. Other than the kettle and toaster, it’s the only single function gadget I’ve kept.

Beetle76 · 02/01/2019 14:48

Having just done a quick mental audit of my gadgets - I’ve also kept the electric egg boiler Grin

Giggorata · 02/01/2019 15:02

Stick whisk, nutribullet and 3 tier steamer.

UnderMajorDomoMinor · 02/01/2019 15:03

Aside from toaster and kettle the only gadgets that regularly get used are the food processor (big bowl and blade only) and aldi rice cooker.

ChelseaBabbage · 02/01/2019 15:05

Sofa stream here as well, it was the best thing I bought in 2018.
I also get a lot of use from my old slow cooker now I am retired, though I never did when I was at work.
My longest lasting gadget still used at least once a week is the stick blender I bought for weaning DS 23 years ago.Grin

ChelseaBabbage · 02/01/2019 15:06

SODA stream obviously. Though a sofa stream might be fun...

ScienceIsTruth · 02/01/2019 15:06

My mixer, mainly for kneading bread, as I don't buy bread, but instead make about 3 small loaves every week.
My boiling water tap, not sure why I waited so long, and really wish I'd bought one years ago.

faintlyridiculous · 02/01/2019 15:10

I love our soda stream. We use it daily.

Our bean to cup coffee machine is another. It wasn’t cheap but it is used pretty much every day and when our first died it was replaced instantly. Proper coffee with nothing to clean up is a real godsend, and there’s no environmental issue like you have with pods.

FoofFighter · 02/01/2019 15:13

Toastie/waffle maker, hand blender, hand sprializer

PerverseConverse · 02/01/2019 16:21

My beautiful candy apple red KitchenAid. I have a £3 hand blender from Tesco that's used for soup regularly. Other than the toaster and kettle there's nothing I use daily.

thismeansnothing · 02/01/2019 16:42

The slow cooker. Got it 9year ago and DH thought it'd get used once and shoved in a cupboard. Nope.

Kenwood food processor. So handy

And despite what was said in the other thread my IKEA garlic crush/press is really good and saves my hands stinking of garlic.

NotAnotherJaffaCake · 02/01/2019 16:44

Kenwood Ched and blender attachment, Nespresso machine, rice cooker and pressure cooker would be replaced instantly if anything happened to them.

Honourable mention to the Spiralizer which get more use than I thought it would.

GemmeFatale · 02/01/2019 18:54

Slow cooker. Used at least once a week in the winter months.

Stand mixer. Thought I’d never use it. I was wrong.

DiveBombingSeagull · 03/01/2019 11:03

Roomba is put on daily to pick up debris from the floor.
Air fryer used several times a week for chips, jacket potatoes.
Breville hot cup has replaced the kettle

clareajones99 · 03/01/2019 13:38

I’ve had my Magimix (4200XL) for years and I use it almost every day. I love cooking but unfortunately, I don’t always have the time to cook from scratch with balancing work and the kids. My Magimix saves me so much time, it means I can make the meals I want to when I come home from work. I honestly don’t think I could live without it now!

BoffinMum · 04/01/2019 05:52

Egg cooker, slow cooker, hand whisk allvery useful.

Stand mixer came free with my new oven and I use it a lot despite also having a Magimix.

RetiredNotExpired · 04/01/2019 22:59

Stick mixer, magimix (both ancient); Nespresso machine, hand mixer.

Gone to the charity shop, over the years: kenwood stand mixer, pressure cooker, rice cooker ( I would have kept this if I still regularly cooked for large numbers of people); slow cooker (stopped using it when I retired); bread maker; coffee grinder.

I had a soda stream decades ago, can't remember what happened to it, which I used just to carbonate tap water. I think the only ones you can get now have to be used in conjunction with specific bottles, is that right?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/01/2019 10:33

Ancient Kenwood mixer for cakes, pastry, etc. not that I make them very often. Also Christmas brandy butter.

Cylinder grater - couldn't do without that, I use a lot of grated cheese and loathe box graters that also grate your fingers.
Slow cooker, though don't use it very often.

I'm generally anti-gadget - they take up too much worktop/cupboard space, but a new one I really love is the tiny citrus zester - why I've so often spent ages tediously grating orange and lemon zest on the box grater I can't imagine.
Dh is likely to get his favourite lemon meringue pie more often than once a year now - Kenwood also essential there for whisking the egg whites.
