Help - white lines on DH chinos after wash

Hi

I have white crease lines on DH newish chinos after washing.

I put them in a big 40 degree load and in dryer when I would have normally put them in a 30 degree wash and hung. Label says former is ok but now I have white crease mark on front leg.

Have put in a 30 degree wash with detergent specially for darks and denim
And hung dry but the mark has remained.

Does anyone have a foolproof way to get rid of this? Wonder if getting them dry cleaned would sort the problem.

Any ideas anyone?

Is probably the dryer that did it rather than the wash. Don't know how to fix it. Does ironing them help?

SippingSipsmith · 31/12/2018 08:37

It said medium tumble would be ok but they just got lost in a load of dark washing that went on hot tumble to try and get it all done all quickly.

No ironing just makes them flat and then I have a faded white line that remains.

This is after I shrunk a merino wool jumper of mine the other week. Not having a good run.

My black jeans did this after I accidentally put them on a hot dry. I couldn’t get it out, so watching with interest.

Is it where dye has left the fabric? You wouldn't be able to to fix that unless you re-dye them

Eminybob · 31/12/2018 08:43

Dh’s jeans have all done this. Didn’t realise it could have been the dryer. Weird.

Sounds like I'm going to have to dye them then or buy new. Another washing fail!

This issue is minimised if you wash trousers inside out.

Yeah usually very careful just didn't realise it was amongst a whole load of school uniform and socks and pants. Too late now it looks like!

I am another person who reckons it’s permanent, but almost always avoided by washing trousers inside out. If it’s any comfort, it took me years to work this out. Many trousers were sacrificed in the meantime. Similarly I spent years wondering why grease spots were appearing on dark jersey tops, and eventually realising this was optical brighteners in the washing powder effectively bleaching the fabric around otherwise invisible marks, solved by using a colours washing powder.

Try washing alone without powder. My dh trousers used to do this, it seemed as if powder had got stuck in a crease.
