Please help me sort out my bathroom!

I need to tackle my bathroom but I think it's a job somewhere between just cleaning and actual DIY so I'm struggling to find appropriate advice.

There is mould around the bath especially. around the edges and the taps. I've managed to shift a lot of this with a mould spray and a bit of elbow grease but there are stubborn bits right on the edges which I am struggling to remove. Around the tap, I can see that it is actually a sealant and by scrubbing it is is starting to come off. (I can see the underside of the sealant is white but the top is black from mould). I suspect this might be the case with the black edges as well. ie I am trying to shift mould that is on the sealant, not on the bath surface and that is why it is more difficult to shift. Is it possible to remove mould from sealant or is my only option to remove the sealant and re-do it? (If so, any tips on that would be appreciated.)

The tiles around the bath have obviously been painted by the previous owner - They were already pealing slightly in a couple of places and, as I try to clean them (and the discoloured grout between them) some of the paint is pealing off. I'm just wondering if I'm best continuing with trying to do this carefully (ie just the right amount of scrubbing to clean them up without removing too much paint) or do I need to remove the paint from the tiles, re-paint them - and re-grout the spaces in between (however you do that!)?

Right now, I'm just trying to get a clean look for the bathroom with as little work as possible so any advice on this would be appreciated.

Products like HG Mould remover spray will shift the black mould in the sense that it will simply bleach it white so it looks like it has gone. It will also temporarily clean up the grout. It's a quick fix and it depends on how much money you want to spend on it. Link for spray:

If you want to remove the mould properly then you would need to remove the sealant. This link should explain it:

Regarding the tiles you are probably better to scrub the tile paint off as it will probably continue to flake off over time. Do you need to repaint the tiles or could you live with the original tiles and simply freshen up the grout? Link for regrouting tiles:

Replacing sealant and grout aren't particularly difficult - just a bit of patience and following the instructions.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try that mould remover - (I've just got a cheapo one from the local shop atm). I think I can probably live with the original tiles - I don't really understand why the previous owner decided to paint over them!

I soak strips of loo roll with bleach and squish them along the sealant around the bath, leave it overnight and all the mould disappears.

I was going to post the same as oddcat. It’s easy to do once you’re on top of it, when you’ve got the bleach out for the toilet.

Another vote for HG mould remover. That stuff is like actual magic.

The HG mould remover has done a sterling job on the mould - Thanks!
