weaning and kitchen floor

I’m awful at general house maintenance and cleaning to begin with but I’m really struggling with baby weaning and throwing food on the floor all the time. slightly wet food or crumbs get spread about very quickly. The floor is tiled and I do use a dustpan and brush but I can never seem to get all the bits of grime that are a bit ‘wet’ for the dustpan. I then will mop but again I find that mopping doesn’t list all the grime off, it just moves it around. Does anyone know what I mean and if it’s perhaps my technique?? Thanks!

I'm not the most houseproud but I used to get paid to mop floors so...

Are you mopping whilst the 'grime' is still wet or once it's dried?

If still wet, you just need to keep mopping, rinsing mop regularly, wringing out well, until it's gone. Don't tickle it, you need a bit of force/friction when you mop.

If dried on, try dabbing a fairly wet mop in the worst offending patches and leaving for 2-5 mins prior to mopping the whole floor. Mop as above. If dried on patches still there, dab to wet again and repeat.

Or get a dog. No more dried food, just muddy paw prints :)

Use a cloth to wipe floor / pick up lumps at the same time.

Just get some cheap antibact floor wipes

Hi are you using splashmats to catch the worst of it? You can use cheap shower curtains if you have a larger space. For the bits that go wider and are stuck on I spray a fairy and water mix leave for five mins and the mop as a pp has said with some vigorous pressure Grin
