How can I make my bin smell nicer?

The removable plastic bit in my kitchen bin has a permanent smell of stale rubbish - and I get a whiff of it when removing the binbag every couple of days. I tend to give it a quick once-over with a wet wipe, but I was wondering if there's any way to get it smelling nicer for longer? Would Zoflora do the trick and if so, how do you use it? Is it just a question of dripping a few neat drops in the bottom and letting it work its magic? I've never bought it before...

Wet wipe isn't going to cut through the grime and smell put it in a basin of soapy water and wash it i wouldn't bother with zoflora .

Zoflora is a disinfectant you need to clean the area with it

I put a biological washing tab in mine with hot water, leave it for an hour or so and then wash, drain & dry.

I wash with hot soapy water and then sprinkle some drops of zoflora on kitchen roll and leave it at the bottom of the bin.

Dettol antibacterial aerosol before you put in a new bin bag.
Shake and vac/washing powder in the bottom of the bin to catch and dry out any bin juice before it starts to stink.
A soak with disinfectant and hot water as often as you can.

I stick a hoover fragrance disk to the under side of the bin lid. You get a nice wiff when it opens

I take out the top drawer from my dishwasher and then put all my bins in to have a good clean Blush

Wet wipes are the curse of modern society, they are not a substitute for actually washing something and generate unnecessary plastic waste.

My bin in the kitchenbis huge comically so Blush it wouldn't fit in the dishwasher or I would be doing that.

I have some Jeyes Fresh Bin powder. I think it was from the pound shop. I sprinkle a bit of that in the bottom of the bin, and every couple of weeks I clean with hot soapy water, rinse thoroughly then disinfect.

Hot water and washing up liquid ( with a touch of bleach) now and again.
I also put a couple of sheets of kitchen roll in the base before putting in a new bin liner. To absorb any possible leaks.

I used to regularly soak my bin with bleachy water. Also, sprinkle some baking soda in the empty bin - that absorbs the horrid bin smell.

rosydreams · 17/12/2018 20:31

i completely soak my bin in zoflora once a month and occasionally sprinkle green netradol in the bottom. That does the trick
