is it safe to hire someone to organise your home for you?

my husband and I are not good at keep things at where they should be. so, the floor, the table, the bed are always full of everything. So, I am thinking about if we should hire someone to organise our home for us. That will be a big help if someone can tidy our home. but then this person will know where everything is at my home. and if this person is not trust worthy, then the safety of our items at home will be on risk.Do I worry too much or hire someone to organise my home for me is just a total bad idea?
had anyone hire an organiser for you home? how do they organise your home for you? Did you do background check on them somehow? my flat's previous owner recommend someone to me. but that person is a bit too old and then she recommend someone else to me. I haven't talked to her yet. But I am thinking about how to talked to her and work with her to organise my home at the safe way. any suggestion?

Do you mean a cleaner?

MrsHou · 17/12/2018 11:32

I do mean organiser, but maybe most cleaner can do this work too. I can do most cleaning by myself. I want someone to put things where they should be for me. there are hair clips, books, clothes on floor. I want someone to put hair clips in drawer, book in bookshelf, clothes in another drawer or laundry basket for me. they don't have to do much cleaning for me beside my kitchen.

I'm just hanging around waiting to see if there's such a thing as a house organiser for regular people.

But then how will you know where everything is?

Or worse, where to put said items back?

This is something you need to do with an organiser.

And be prepared to folk out on lots of storage.

If you already have a home for these things then why cant you do it yourself? Confused

Tbh it sounds like you need a housekeeper type and they ain't cheap I don't think.

If you want someone to set up a more organised system that would be a professional organiser /declutterer. You can find listings for them via a professional body: www.apdo.co.uk/
IME they are usually about £25 per hour, but might be more in London. You might need to set up the appointments a few weeks in advance as the good ones get booked up and may have regular clients.

You also need to look for cleaners who are willing to tidy if you think you will need assistance to keep things tidy.

I don't see the difference between concerns about cleaners and concerns about organisers. Organisers are well-paid so surely there would be less reason to worry anyway, and most people have cleaners without pilfering problems.

How would we know, unless we knew the person?

But someone with a reputation and references as a cleaner/housekeeper/declutterer would lose their business if they descended to petty theft, so it's unlikely, because it's not in their long or short term interests.
