Were looking at purchasing an Everhot, and don’t know anybody with one, would you buy another and does it really cook like an AGA?

Hi Aislark,

We’ve just bought one. I think it is the 110 i we looked at such a lot and Agas. It cooks slightly differently to an Aga but long slow casseroles, roast lamb is amazing. So far I am loving it but we have had it less than a month. I have only used the induction hob twice as we needed to buy new pans. There is a Facebook page that I discovered but haven’t joined yet. Are you north or south?
I went to a cookery demonstration which was really helpful.

Watching with interest!

How is it different to an Aga? We are looking at an Everhot too to replace our oil guzzling Aga.

They cook from the bottom. Are supposed to be cheaper to run although AGA has brought a new one out and dispute this. There is a large showroom in Skipton and the guy there has been selling them for about 30 years and also sells AGAs so you can compare. He has loads to view but we purchased from local one because we had already been there. So far we are really happy with ours especially just now as artic weather here. We are awaiting snow. It has made our kitchen so much warmer and it was lovely to come home to today as 2C at 3pm.

Sorry to hi jack the thread. But is it that much better than a decent fan oven and an extra radiator?

We are much more a pasta and stir fry sort of family. Our kitchen is not a particularly sociable space either so it’s me hugging the Aga and everyone else scattered around the house.

However ... the fact that I can dry a load of laundry overnight is wonderful. Leaving laundry folded to ‘iron’ is handy. When I do cook it’s a joy. But is this worth it...?

Bowerbird5 · 18/12/2018 22:46

Well we have both said we wished we had bought one earlier.
I am doing a Christmas practice run with a large chicken tomorrow so will let you know how that turns out.

Yes you can sit folded laundry on and as the lid is rectangular and larger than an Aga dries more. We have a Lakeland airier and we put that in the kitchen with two loads of washing on and all is dry by morning.
The hot plate is split into hot and simmer so a good space and the newer Everhot have rectangular induction hobs instead of pan size so you can move pans around it. Also much quicker to heat up. I had a fan oven before and hate to say it I think I prefer this.

Butchers chicken for £6instead of £8:50 was absolutely delicious. It was really moist so seems great.

That sounds good Bowerbird.

We went to look for real on Saturday. The magnetic door won me!!

I think we’re won over... just got to sort the rest of the kitchen.

Bowerbird5 · 27/12/2018 19:12

Well Christmas dinner was a great success. Everyone thought turkey saddle was delicious. I do buy from local butcher and I push stuffing between skin and bird, layer bacon over the top. It was great having more space.
We bought the 110i. I bought the sage one.
Love the magnetic doors. Very easy to change temperature. Do look out for cooking demos we have been to two and have been invited to a third. You get to eat the food too.😁

squiggletea · 28/12/2018 23:20

Sounds like Christmas dinner was a hit. That’s pretty much peak cooking for most of us! We’re just going for the 60: I think it will be better balanced in our kitchen but I’m looking forward to having the choice between baking oven or warming oven.

I feel like the Aga is fab but just not fab enough to justify the oil guzzling. The Everhot seems to actually fit around how we work as a family and will justify its existence much more Smile.

I really liked the sage too. I also liked the dark blue but think graphite will win.

Now to plan the rest of the kitchen...

Bowerbird5 · 29/12/2018 00:04

The graphite is very nice. I saw one. The sage is slightly different to the card.Better.I was torn between the sage and aubergine. I met someone on the cooking demo who bought the 60 and was considering changing it for the 110i. I nearly offered to buy hers as it was five year old. You can get them secondhand. A tip if you can wait. If ordered at the demo or within three weeks you didn’t have to pay the delivery £300. I don’t know if this is every demo or was an offer in our area. Part of the reason we bought the 110i was that we can switch it off in summer and just use the induction hob. We bbq quite a lot in summer. We did lots of research. There is an Everhot Facebook site you might like to look at. Good luck with your final desicion.
