Was wondering does anyone know any bathroom fiters ANYWHERE?...

escpecially in the southeast

How much do they charge for labour per day / hour (or however it is charged!).... also if done cash in hand how much?

All answers greatly appreciated!

We've recently had quotes for our bathrooms which work out around £3,500 each for full fitting out, tiling, laying underfloor heating etc, but unfortunately not for materials. London prices.

It will cost more if you move plumbing - ie move the loo or bath, or are installing a new shower. Replacing and updating should cost you less. My DHs friend is a plumber/electrician and his basic daily rate is about £200. Then add in materials, tiling, plastering etc.

thats i very helpful thanks sidge!

anyone else?

we are having 2 rooms knocked in to one, replastering, new wall, new bath, shower, ceiling etc etc 7000 yikes. they say it will take 2 of them 15 working days including wood, plasterboard, marine ply etc

we have to provide all lights, bathroom, tiles etc on top of this

sarah beaney's book price the job is a good guide to cost too

Azure · 23/06/2007 10:03

Sorry - don't know how long it will take to calculate the daily rate. I prefer a fixed rate per job personally as it is easier to control the budget.

UCM · 23/06/2007 10:15

Dh does this mainly as he is primarily a ceramic tiler. He normally gives a price rather than day work. It depends what you want done, do you want your bathroom completely refitted ie, bath loo sink shower installed and then some tiling or just the actual bathroom suite fitted.

If you are in London approximately 150 per day is the going rate, outside of London you can possibly get someone at 100 - 120 per day. I would ask them for a price though, as if they take longer it doesn't end up on your bill.

cece · 23/06/2007 10:24

WE have a quote of £760 for fitting of new suite, £420 for plastering all walls and ceiling. DH will tile ours and paint it and I will do the flooring. Plus the cost of the fittings - -the sky is the limit with those.

NannyL · 23/06/2007 12:53

thanks v much for all these very helpful posts!

having 2 small rooms (currently bath and sink room + toilet) bashed into 1.... then completely new everything!

DP does bathrooms and kitchens (but we are in NW), his rates are around what cece suggests. But if you are having structural work done to combine the two bathrooms etc before any fitting etc can take place, and presumably moving all the plumbing and pipes round as well then sorry but get ready for hefty estimates.
Oh and agree that you should get a fixed price for the whole job, not daily rate, DP never does daily rates.

newgirl · 25/06/2007 13:07

nannyl - sounds like our job then - i reckon a fixed rate of 6000-7000! i would recommend typing up a list of what you would like them to do and ask if you have missed anything off. Aks if they will take away all rubbish. Then agree a price for all this (add vat) so both of you know what is fair/expected

OrmIrian · 25/06/2007 13:18

Don't know! Never bought one.....

Sorry.

It cost us £1600 to buy the suite and get it fitted but not tiled, floored or painted. It was quite a nice suite but the only unusual thing about it was the shaped shower bath - not bog-standard. If I remember rightly the suite cost about £1000 so the work was £600 (incl some plumbing fittings and pipes etc).
