Paddle stuck upside-down in bread machine

I've managed to jam it on good and proper. It won't mix the dough properly obviously. I've tried soaking it hot soapy water, I've wrapped it in a tea-towel and pulled.

Has anyone managed to defeat this 5cm piece of plastic or do I surrender and buy a new machine?

Picture from side using your phone? Can you not lever it out or is there no gap at the base?

I'm hoping to enter this photo into one of those magazines where you have to guess what the object is!

Ok taken from the side and the paddle isn't flush with the bottom of the bowl so doesn't mix well at all. I used it a couple of times before I realised and it just produces a ball stuck around the paddle.

That picture makes no sense at all!

Have you got anything L shaped like a wall bracket you can lever it out with?

Knittedfairies · 20/11/2018 13:35

I can’t make any sense of the picture... but just wanted to say that you can buy replacement bread pans for some machines.
Have you tried pliers/mole grips?

Knittedfairies · 20/11/2018 13:36

Or stick the pan in the freezer to contract the metal bit?

Magenta46 · 20/11/2018 13:50

gently heat it with a hairdryer. Had to do this on a vacuum cleaner and it softened the.plastc just enough to be able to loosen it.

Knittedfairies You are a bone fide genius! It never even occurred to me I could buy replacement parts. Morphy Richards website has done me proud and a fraction of the cost of a new machine. :)

I'm recently separated and my ex got custody of the tool box... so what I'd have spent on pliers/etc. I may as well buy a new pan + paddle!

Problem solved - let them eat bread!

Glad to hear you’re sorted. Mine is a Morphy Richards too; I was looking at replacement pans on Saturday as the spindle just dropped out of mine, but then I thought to check the paperwork and realised it was still (just) under guarantee so got the whole thing replaced.
