Smell of fried food

Hi, my children's dad and gf fry everything they cook and they're clothes and hair stink when they come home. They also use a really strong detergent that smells awful. Three washes later and I can still smell grease and detergent. How can I get rid of it? If I wash anything else with their things everything in the wash gets infected with the smell. The children themselves can't stand it.

I use home made washing powder, but I have some Ariel for whites - I find both work well but Ariel is obviously heavily scented and biological. With your washing, I would do a prewash with just water and maybe some vinegar for the affected clothing - I think my machine has a setting where I can have the washing soaking in water until I drain it. Then, at least, that water wouldn't be washing your clothes.

I also have a setting where I can use extra water - maybe you need to do that or not wash a full load so that everything has more room?

Line drying would also be helpful.

Have you tried it on a very hot wash? That's what I do for things that need a deeper clean. Or can you get them clothes that stay there (a pain I know).

Use that anti bacterial stuff in your wash. You will see a difference

They do have separate clothes for there but on a Friday their uniforms go with them and come back stinking even if they've been washed there.
Line drying does help.
I can let them sit in vinegar and water.
Will try the detail stuff.
Thanks!

Let's see if the vinegar works. I've put all the stinky stuff in together with a cup full of white vinegar in addition to the laundry detergent and fabric softener. Fingers crossed.

Soda crystals in the wash (with your normal powder) is usually good for greasy stains so might help.
