M&S Sofas - any good?

Am thinking of buying an M&S corner sofa. "Nantucket" or "Lincoln" would both be ideal in my smallish awkwardly shaped sitting room. In the past I would not even have questioned the M&S quality [the "sandwich" effect, we call it] but I'm put off by some negative reviews suggesting a cheapening of construction. Now we all know that its the moaners who tend to write reviews in the first place, but we also all know that all high street businesses are under pressure and cutting corners these days is exceedingly common. Anyone have any recent experience, good or bad, of M&S sofas?

Not recent but some of the ones I saw on display recently didn't look as good a quality as you'd expect for the price.

I would like to be helpful but the reviews put us off, too. We've just passed on a 5 year old M&S corner suite that didn't really fit in our current house and the frame was still rigid but the piping on the arms was worn and you definitely sunk into it a bit too far for (my) comfort and it was impossible to make it look tidy. Those complaints seem to be almost universal, though.

I'm currently sitting on my much loved 8 year old M&S 4 seater.
I adore it buuuuut there is a flaw in the construction. There's no support beam in the middle of what is a very long couch so for the past year the middle has had a stack of books under it as the beam has cracked and sunk.
We also got family discount on it, if I'd paid full price I might be less enamoured by it.
It is however the best looking couch (for my taste) I've seen for years and I dread trying to find a replacement.

Thanks for those comments. It does seem that M&S may be trading on their past good name, loads of people say "My 8/10/12/20 year old sofa is still going strong", but reviewers purchasing in the last couple of years don't leave that impression.
Another candidate I've found is Next, but will this be very much the same sort of thing I wonder?

I've got a lincoln corner sofa, we got in 60% off ex display.

It is very comfy but the back cushions have become misshapen, we've had it nearly 2 years. It is just looking a bit scruffy now. I have tried to look after it but I just don't think they're the best quality.

I think for the price we paid it's ok but if we'd paid full price I would have been disappointed.

We got a m and s Nantucket. Delivered last April (ish).
It is lovely. The only problem I see is that the seating cushions can sort of push forwards. If you sit in a slouch like my dh does.
But that's small problem. I plump and move the top cushions as per instructions (less frequently than I should) and find it very comfy and not have any issue with the construction.
I appreciate mine is only a few months old though so not sure how valuable this is to you.

Good luck with whatever u choose!!

We have three - an ancient one and two newer ones. All are wearing well. Just don't buy anything other than foam filled seat cushions from anywhere. Anything else quickly looks a mess and no amount of plumping sorts it out.
