Two pan induction hob for small kitchen

In the early stages of planning a much needed new kitchen. It's a small galley kitchen so we need to be careful with space. Going for a built in eye level cooker and built in microwave to save work surface space and thinking about a small 30cm Neff induction hob. I can't remember the last time I cooked on more than two rings. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and regretted it? Thanks. At the moment have not got enough workspace due to not enough cupboard space and want to avoid this.

There is a 30cm induction hob in Ikea for£220

You could always keep a portable plug in hob for the rare occasions you need it.

I am seriously considering using only plug in induction hobs when I have my new kitchen. They are massively cheaper than fitted ones and easily replaced if they fail or get damaged.

Thanks for the link Frogfairy.

Separate plug in is genius, either as a spare or sole hob.

Fab idea knowing if I went for two rings and found it's not enough that there's an easy way to have more. (Was worried if went with two rings it would feel like I'm making do with limited facilities like in a small caravan ir something - great for a holiday but maybe not full time.)

Not sure if I'd want as my main hob unless I could put it away in a cupboard after use. Depends on how much storeage will have in new kitchen. No reason it couldn't be left out on counter though.

Bring it on, uncluttered easy to clean surfaces and hob!

Have you got gas at the moment?

I ask because we have a glass topped hob (only ceramic) and it's so nice and flat, we've used it as extra prep space a lot, so I don't feel any need to compromise on number of hobs. I'm thinking induction will be even better as it cools down faster.

I'm planning our new kitchen right now and am thinking built under double oven and wall mounted microwave. That would get you an extra 60cm worktop that you've lost with the eye level one. We thought built under would be too small but we found one model (a Hotpoint) that has big enough capacity for us. I know it's tricky juggling cupboard space and worktop though - we are probably overcompensating for being short of worktops at the moment and over-prioritising worktop in our new design.

The portable IKEA one is a genius idea. I saw a tip on here to buy it for your kitchen refurb and keep it as an extra for doing Christmas dinner etc, and I will be doing that!

I was told about that tip too, and was given another by our fab designer, for the sink, if you have one that sits under the worktop, you can have a lid cut out of worktop to make more worktop space (we had composite tops). small spaces need extra thought when planning. we spent a whole week planning ours with the designer, she was great. we then bought doors from one place and cabinets from ikea and handles from the same place we got the worktops. found all my appliances and sink online.

Thanks for these great tips, really good to have options hadn't considered.
