I'm guilty of buying products for wanting to try a new scent, I've seen it on Instagram or because I'm bored so Ive ended up wasting so much money on things I just dont need! Now Im trying to not buy any cleaning products at all and Ive whittled my full cupboards down dramatically. Ive also found some of my fave products which are

White vinegar for laundry, windows, glass
The pink stuff - i love this for scrubbing things and hard to clean jobs
Zoflora - Dilute down for the worktops and floors and the bathroom
Poundstretcher glass cloths 2 for £1
99p Home Bargains carpet powder (makes them smell amazing for ages and the hoover smells great for weeks)
Scrub buddy from B&M, cheap and I much prefer them to minkys version
Tesco fabric softener - I was a Lenor only person but the yellow tesco one leaves my clothes so soft and smelling lovely

What are some of your cheap faves Smile

Stardrops pine disinfectant
Harpic pine loo bleach
(anything piney - 38 weeks pregnant and craving pine smells)

Marliyaloo · 17/10/2018 16:30

😂 Im not keen on pine but I love the stardrops spray. My fave loo cleaner is the duck mint gel

I am a detergent fanatic but only non-tested.

Waitrose and Tesco own brand ( I like the Tesco non-bio liquid and the Waitrose colour powder)

Astonish - only a £ or so in The Range and Home Bargains.

And an EcoEgg for anything that needs freshened but not 'dirty' .

MrsMoastyToasty · 18/10/2018 16:26

Soda crystals as a water softener.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 18/10/2018 16:29

Lidl’s non-bio gel. Everything is clean and it’s a fraction of the price of the big brands.

Star drops. Cleans anything and it’s cheap.

MissMarplesKnitting · 18/10/2018 16:34

Waitrose own brand eco cleaning products are good, reasonable at £2 or so and smell amazing.
Cotton dishcloths once a bit past it in the kitchen get relegated to general cleaning duties. Washed with tea towels and flannels on hot wash. Ditto old muslins.

Bicarb. Mix with white vinegar for fantastic cheap cleaning.

Zoflora is a disinfectant. It won't CLEAN anything. Using it on floors is pointless if they need cleaning. It's useful for cleaning up after wee/vomit and diluted around the loo seat but otherwise, useless. Most stink too.

DerelictWreck · 18/10/2018 16:47

Sainsbury's bio poweder

Cheap as chips and is the Which best buy because it's so good!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 18/10/2018 19:29

I quite like Lidl’s W5 bathroom cleaner too. It has a lovely fresh scent and definitely works Smile

Graphista · 18/10/2018 19:34

No tips from me I'm afraid but a question - 2 long haired residents mean my bath and bathroom sink plugholes CONSTANTLY need "dehaired"are full of gunk!

Horrible job not only as I have OCD but also physically painful to do.

Is there anything you guys would recommend I could regularly use to KEEP the plugholes clear?

Redken24 · 18/10/2018 19:39

Vinegar is the best for windows definitely.

Does any one have any tips for a car that stinks (of previous owner animals)

Justmuddlingalong · 18/10/2018 19:42

To clear a hairy plughole, squeeze immac or nair hair removal cream into the plughole. Leave it to melt the hair and rinse it away.

GreedyBastard · 18/10/2018 19:45

I use zoflora diluted down in a spray bottle on almost every surface.

bleach for the toilet and drains and floors.

poundland easy wash powder 3 in 1 is the best washing stuff ive ever come across along with mr muscle shout stain remover on any stains its a spray on type its better than vanish gold by a mile, is only 1.50ish it got bright red chinese sauce out of my cream brushed cotton bedding messy bitch i was eating takeaway in bed Blush

AspergersMum · 18/10/2018 20:48

I'm looking for a new all-around cleaner as Method lavender now makes me cough loads. Other than that, Ecover or Bio D washing up liquid diluted for cleaning kitchen, white vinegar and Ecover toilet cleaner. I don't get Zoflora.

Ilovetolurk · 18/10/2018 22:06

Wilco’s antibac floor wipes are 50p for 15. Nice and big and smell inoffensive

I use them for floors but also cleaning the bathroom when I’m in a hurry

DS cleans his football boots with them

Boyskeepswinging · 18/10/2018 22:10

Lidl's washing up liquid is something stupid like 50p a bottle and is the best I've ever used. My favourite variety is lemon - it is fantastic at dealing with really dirty dishes.

folduptheocean · 18/10/2018 22:38

Vinegar from supermarket?

Etino · 18/10/2018 22:44

Elbow grease!!

Cynderella · 18/10/2018 22:57

Cleaning: Bulk buy white vinegar, bicarb, washing up liquid. Cheap salt from any supermarket.

Descaling: Citric acid

Laundry: Soap, soda crystals and some Aldi bio washing powder. Napisan for whites when they need it. Vinegar again instead of fabric conditioner.

Dishwasher: Sainsburys dishwasher powder.

I keep some Zoflora for disinfecting in emergencies - most often pet accidents.

EthelHornsby · 18/10/2018 22:57

White vinegar, bicarb, cheap microfibre car cleaning cloths, oxygen bleach

Marliyaloo · 19/10/2018 09:52

Redken Id air it out as much as possible sprinkle bicarb on the seats hoover it and spray a bit of 1001 carpet fresh

Ace bleach is really good for stains even ones that have set, you can get it cheap from places like Savers.
