Bullet Journal - help me find my mojo!

A couple of years ago, I felt really organised, was on top of most of the things and that was thanks to my bullet Journal. Then we moved last year, and it's all gone a bit pear shaped.
Meal planning has gone out of the window, dates for school stuff keeps getting forgotten, diet is basically 90% sugar, house is a tip, and I've stopped using my bullet Journal. I think I need to start planning again, and hopefully everything else will follow suit.
But these days I'm completely inspired, and don't know where to start! What are your favourite spreads, and/or tips to regain a bit of control ?

Following, I started a similar thread some time ago but there wasn't many replies. I tried going back to basics but that didn't help. I have read through the old bullet journal threads , but I really just need inspiration.
I haven't used mine properly in months. I think I got too caught up in making it look nice, an I was never happy with it. I occasionally watch the YouTube videos on them but then feel crap because mine isn't as beautifully decorated.

I just brought a new journal to re start a bullet journal but now I’m worried about spoiling the lovely book.

Maybe just start simple with a calendar and to do list. It might get you back into the swing of it.

Mine fell by the wayside over summer. It was only ever really a diary to keep track of what I was meant to be doing (I used a clock face rubber stamp for each day for my calendar so there was no real effort involved)

Thanks, I think starting small might be the answer. I used to have daily trackers, which forced me to check the journal at least daily if not more, so maybe that's what has been missing this last year, as I'll write things in the calendar but then forget to check it often enough.

I keep a bullet journal Best format for me has been a naice notebook, use a double page spread for each day. To do on the left hand page, housework/admin tasks list underneath and then on the opposite page I have a section for “well-being” which has a food and exercise diary and below that a shopping list.
We use famcal app in our house as a calendar so I check that daily.
On the back pages of the notebook I keep lists. At the moment I’ve got books to read, recipes to try and a list/mini project plan for our kitchen renovation.

Book I need some motivation too. I'm using my bullet journal in the loosest sense. I have all the "right" pages. But I don't use it to get stuff done. It's a glorified diary. In the early days I would plan things and list out tasks that need doing. Then I went through a period of just transferring a task to another date and finally it turned into just a diary with tasks/appointments that cannot be changed. Sad I was much more effective in the early days...

ICJump · 15/10/2018 07:27

Well I wrote in my new journal and did one the tasks! Feeling better already.

I fell out of the habit of using my journal over the summer. I started the week with best intentions and marked out my weekly planner but never got round to completing it on a daily basis and I'd look at the empty pages quite disheartened. I've picked it back up again and just started making weekly to do lists and I want to put in some trackers to get me back into the habit of picking it up every day.

I also got carried away with trying making it look pretty and have a big pencil case of fancy pens which I begrudged carrying around with it all the time. So I want to start building in time to make the pretty planners and leave the case at home which means I only need to carry 1 black pen to fill write notes whilst I'm on the move. Keeping hold of it in my bag will also encourage me to use it more I think.

I take mine up to bed with me with my phone (which has calendar/email), then fill in any relevant bits then before going to bed. Mine is really just a diary/to do list/book of lists. I have never done the pretty stuff, I use whatever pen is at hand, there are no drawings in it and I have no qualms about crossing out and making a mess, it is purely functional. No fancy layouts either, everything is horizontal, straight lines etc, much like a normal diary/list.

My main tool is a double page weekly view, Mon-Fri on the left, the weekend and a main weekly to do list on the right. Meal planning, shopping etc is done separately on a notebook kept in the kitchen.

Booksandpens · 16/10/2018 14:41

I think the double spread with to-do list sounds like a good start. Still haven't really taken it up again yet, but I think I'll sit down tonight and start somewhere !
