Dishwasher - worth repair or not?

DW ia a fully intergrated full sized Bosch , had it 4 years and used daily , often 2-3 times a day.

It's now decided not to heat Hmm

So it will wash (after a fashion) but no hot water and no heat to dry.

Out of warranty so we'd need to find a repairer. Is it worth it or replace it? It's gone wrong before when in warranty , no water was going in, they replaced a little 'float 'sensor .

Any advice?

I would probably look to replace it given its age and usage.

Could be a plumbing problem not a dw issue.

Don't know about plumbing? The hot water is fine in the sink and the water does run into the DW. But its just stone cold through the cycle .

Previous problem there was no water at all but that was resolved a while back.

I'm thinking if this is going wrong then something else will go wrong.

Our previous one (Hotpoint) lasted 8 years so I'm annoyed at this one .

I have a Bosch and 4 years is nothing! My last one lasted nearly 20 years and was repaired about 4 times. I'd be looking at calling the engineer out.

That's fixable! Our Neff had this problem and we paid £120 to fix it. Our local appliance shop also does repairs and they came out to fix ours. The cheapest integrated dishwasher that fit our space was £400. So it made sense.

It sounds like it may just be a heatvsrvsur that needs changing. Since it’s out of warranty, i’d call out a local domestic appliance repair person. Ours charges £25 for a call out, then the cost of parts (which he orders) plus £10/hr for fitting.

Our Zanussi DW is 11 years old. All it’s needed repaired was a door spring.

I would be really disappointed with four years! I would get a rough price for repair first before deciding what to do.

Mind you cost per use is nothing is it but I would expect it to last longer than that.

All my dishwashers have lasted ten years plus and never broken but been replaced with integrated or left in a house when selling.

My current Neff integrated is 14 years old (probably now jinxed).

My dishwasher - an indesit - was 4.5 years old when it stopped working. Called out a local engineer who charged £25 to tell us that it would cost too much to fix - about £170
He said that four years was about what I could expect from the dishwasher I had. Others I’ve had have lasted much longer so I was very disappointed.

Our last dishwasher (German made) lasted over 20 years, so yes, I'd repair.

This may not be helpful but consumer law reguires products to be fit for purpose and reasonable quality ie 6 years is reasonable. I had a Bosch dishwasher that had a failed heater. The shop gace a reasonable deal on a new one after I mentioned Sale of goods act.

Had it repaired , we had actually taken out the extended guarentee (must've had an Epiphany Moment) so it is now quietly getting on with its' work.

Zanussi dishwasher, 30 years old. Used daily. No repairs or call outs. Amazing. Still cleans as good as new. Just slight cleaning maintenance.
