Exciting thread alert ....spray mop or something else?

Hello, just had new lvt floor fitted and have been advised not to use steam mop.

I'm loath to have a mop bucket, so wondering what's best? I've seen lots of double sided mops, one for dusting the other for mopping, but how does this work, do you soak the ecloth in the sink before use, or something else?

Spray mops, are they decent and useful or do they generally just make a little puddle directly infront of you and drive you mad?

Thanks in advance!

I have a small busy house with pets and spray mops are great for maintenance, but I need hot soapy water and a mop to clean properly.

If I spray mop, the floors look clean, but the colour of the water if I mop 'properly' tells a different story.

Thanks Cynderella, with a name like yours you must be the mop expert, and you've confirmed my fears. I'll still get a spray mop for day to day around the dining table maybe.

Just to make it clear - my small busy house and pets means that floors get dirty. If you have an orderly house where you have a large hall/porch where everyone removes outdoor shoes, no pets/toddlers around and the house is often empty, a spray mop may be enough. It's certainly effective enough to make the floors look clean and they dry quickly.

We have engineered oak floors and not supposed to use a steam mop either.

We also have 4 DC who are typical children who traipse through the house without taking their shoes off at the door, drop food, spill drink etc. I also bake several times a week so my kitchen floor is forever getting a sprinkling of flour/icing sugar etc.

A proper mop is essential. We had one of those spray mops in our first house and it was fine, but it was only needed for 2 rooms and we had no children then!

We have the vileda spinny mop. (I don’t actually know what it’s called - it works like an old fashioned salad spinner) Yes it does mean having a mop bucket, but the spinny feature means we can mop properly with hot water and fairy liquid (the best thing for the floor) without it getting too wet.
