Good evening all, like everybody else I am seriously struggling with the heat as well, the kids though seem to be alot better this year with it, though they are showering like there is no tomorrow!

Well I was going to do some ironing tonight but my feet are swollen again, so am going to pass on it for now, thank god I've got some foot cooling stuff, its helping with the puffiness.

Did get most of my list done but am shattered so it will have to wait till tomorrow. Do though have to do DS1 cooking ingrediants tonight and the lunches.

A woman's work is never done!

dh's bike was stolen from the train station about 2 months ago. I gave mine away last year before Ellie arrived. hope you find one soon.

tortoise · 11/06/2007 19:55

Aufish Sorry you are struggling with the heat. I love it . The house is quite cool during the day though plus i have my lush ceiling fan in the front room .

Hello to everyone. Please excuse this very quick post. I took dd to town after work and did quite a bit there and had to take mouldy bagels back to supermarket so wasn't home until late.

Done:-
~ worked. Lots to do after being away for 2 wks.
~ took dd to town to have feet checked and look for a new school bag (unsuccessfully - £20!)
~ went to opticians
~ picked up suit from dry cleaners
~ returned wrong colour t-shirts and swopped for white ones
~ went to docs app't
~ finish putting away clothes that are currently all over my bed after unpacking

Still to do:-
~ ring friend who rang whilst I was away
~ ring friend to say thanks for party dd went to
~ write e-mail to cousin in good time for b/d
~ ironing
~ carry junk back to spare bedroom, sorting out as much as poss.

The problem that I have is that my front room faces to the south and the previous owners decided to stick the conservatory right in front of the front room with patio doors to the sides of the room, if I open the south facing doors then I get baked, so have to deal with what ever air that comes in from the east.

Jas · 11/06/2007 20:34

My house is old and cool inside, but does get hot upstairs.

tortoise tell everyone you know that you want a bike. I thought I had, but when I told my friend I'd got mine she said"Oh I've got a bike you could have had" Grr!
My last one got stolen when we first moved here (over ten years ago)and no I haven't got a helmet Do I really have to wear one?

YES JAS YOU DO!!! Especially if you will have a child on the back. It shows a good example to them too. I see so many of ds's friends out without helmets and its one thing that makes me really angry .
DS's should probably wear one on their scooters too though!

GlassSlipper · 11/06/2007 20:50

Yes Jas. Yes yes yes. [headmistress emoticon]

Go and get a helmet. It could save your lif and will stop you looking like a hypocrite when you instist your childen wear them.

GlassSlipper · 11/06/2007 20:50

x-post with tort. lol

have you got the message?

tortoise · 11/06/2007 20:51

LOL!
She will get the message! Shouldbe has after all my nagging! .

GlassSlipper · 11/06/2007 20:53

and tort - your kids should have them on scooters too....yawn....

i got one for my dd for her scooter. so she decided to ride it around the house instead

tortoise · 11/06/2007 20:57

DD's do wear theirs on their scooters. I just never got into the habit with ds's. I know they should have all the pads on too but no-one else does!

GlassSlipper · 11/06/2007 21:09

personally wouldnt worry too much about mads but defo go with helmets. dont dds complain if ds's dont wear them too?

Jas · 11/06/2007 21:11

So you think I should get one then?

I'll look into it.

tortoise · 11/06/2007 21:12

Actually they don't seem to take any notice. Maybe because they often have a cap on.
I will get them wearing them next time they scoot to school.

tortoise · 11/06/2007 21:14

jas. Look forward to seeing -'Buy helmet' on your to do list!

shouldbe · 11/06/2007 21:46

lol at this thread

I am fulling intending to get a helmet and really do see the importance - I've just been lazy about getting one. EHM is your helmet XL? I had no idea my head was so big it would warrant ordering a special helmet in - and they have no idea how long it'll take cos they never need to order that size
The kids wear their helmets on both their bikes and their scooters

Hello to simply and grouchy

I'm off to bed, seeyou all tomorrow when my list will be l o n g

OP posts:
tortoise · 11/06/2007 21:50

What size is XL in cm? Can it really be that big. Good luck with your list tomorrow. I'm not sure what i will get done tomorrow. Its just me and dd2 all day as DD1 has pre-school.
