DD about to go to uni and seeking to save as much money as possible! Can anyone recommend a cheap but very good washing powder tablet? I use a liquid but think she''ll find tablets more user-friendly. Cheap fabric conditioner tips also welcome! Smile

Aldi and Lidl do good powders. Powder is better for washing machines anyway. Also, if a hard water area, a scoop of soda crystals will help.

White vinegar for fabric conditioner or, again, Lidl/Aldi are fine.

I never use fabric conditioner. I dint miss it at all.
Tabs are one of the most expensive ways per wash. I can understand powder not being very user friendly but the liquid isn’t messy. The Lidl or Aldi liquids for darks (I use for whites or colours) are both great. Inexpensive. They may do tabs as well

I use the liquid gel. I used to use liquid tables, but with them you have to use a full one every wash. With the gel if you only have a small wash you can use less. So I find it much better value.
We use fairy no bio, but the cheaper supermarket versions are good as well I've heard. Sometimes they will be on offer as well, a great big one for £4.

I liked the Wilko brand liquid tabs. Cheaper than other brands and very simple - just the liquid in the plastic wrapper. Good laundry smell and didn't clog up the machine

@Cynderella would soda crystals be needed for say, London? I haven't found streaks etc on my washing but know it's a hard water area

As far as I know, soda crystals work like Calgon. When we lived in Cornwall, limescale wasn't a problem. Now I'm the other side of the country, it makes cleaning showers and kettles a pain. London is much the same, I think.

Aldi’s own bio tablets. They’re great
