Anybody got any opinions about the quality of B&Q laminate worktops? Good, bad, average?
Thanks!

I wish she had spent more on a proper worktop TBH - but we needed one fast! The B&Q one has been 'OK' (i.e. does the job, but looks a bit cheap)for a few years but now every drop of tea or spillage marks it and requires bleaching and scouring to clean it. Ours isn't a dark colour though, maybe that is where we went wrong?

Hmmm, I was going to go for a cream colour, so that would probably show marks too... we have to get laminate (need about 8 metres, so can't afford granite/quartz) and I heard that the MFI ones were really bad quality so am wondering what else to go for...

Well I suppose you get what you pay for really; like I said the B&Q one has been OK for about 3 years but it is really not looking its best anymore and I am getting fed up of scouring it to remove the tea ring marks! Maybe ikea might be the answer...??

Our builder got ours from Magnet trade counter - it is a high gloss granite-lookalike, I think it's called something like Mayan gloss. That was over five years ago and it still looks brilliant. Only problem is I think the builders got the deeper one (there are a couple of sizes) so we had a bit of a lip and just in front of the sink where water has got under onto the chip-board bit it has swollen a little. But if you get the right size for your units it is a very good one as laminates go - really granite-like!

we have Stardust melange - which was the only one I liked and I do like it. However after only 6 months and I've never actually cut anything on it it's full of teeny tiny scratches. I'm thinking about complaining to their headoffice as surely something should last longer than that? However you can get different qualities - whether something more expensive would be more hardwearing, who knows?

Furball, yes I would definitely complain - that really doesn't sound good enough! Urgh, this is driving me crazy, we're in such a Catch-22 with this - I really don't want to spend money on something that will only last a year or two but I can't afford anything other than laminate - and not even top-quality laminate (like Duropal) at that. My parents have had a Durpola laminate worktop and it looks as good as new, almost 20 years later they installed it! It's just soooo pricey... oh well, thank you for your thoughts, everybody!
