How best to keep warm without heating whole house?

I am at home all day and have a health condition that means that I find it difficult sometimes to regulate my body temperature (once I get cold I find it almost impossible to get warm again without taking a hot shower). I also feel the cold much more than my DH and can often be found shivering under a blanket while he’s just in a shirt.

I don’t want to heat the whole house to what would be comfortable to me (prob around 23/24 degrees!) as that feels like burning money!

Can anyone recommend a good solution? Portable fan heater? Heated cushion? I do use hot water bottles, but then get super hot where they’re placed but still have freezing hands.

It would be great to hear what’s worked for you.

Thin base layer top, leggings plus socks in wool or silk, same materials for fingerless gloves. Electric heat pad, to go behind you on your back. Hoodie top layer to keep head warm, tighter fitting hat if really cold, loose fit outer leggings to trap warmth in

I find being quite fat to be effective, but it's not the best plan.

Floor length extra large dressing gown with a hood and fake ugg-type boot slippers is what I wear while wfh.

Fan heaters aren't very effective, the room cools down very quickly when you turn them off.

No gaps - so vest or tee shirt tucked into the waistband of your trousers - it really does make a difference. Socks and trousers long enough not to have a gap round your ankles. Or jogging bottoms with an elasticated cuff. And big fluffy socks on top.

Hot filling lunch. Jacket potato, toastie or scrambled egg.

Wool and silk base layer and a wool hat . I learned that working in -20 in China.

What about a slanket? Not beautiful - but it would be cosy!

Not great for all the time but my grans tip for when you're "cold to the bone"
Mustard powder in hot water in a bowl and stick your feet in it. Drink a hot drink while your feet soak. I managed about ten minutes before I was sweating Grin brilliant if you've got really cold/wet

Otherwise my heated throw is great

Gilet
Big bowl of thick HM soup eg leek & potato
Wrist warmers
Woolie hat
Snood
Two pairs of socks, look for hiking or skiing socks for the second pair
Thermal base layers, merino is ideal
Radiant heater... they heat YOU, not the room (like standing in the sun on a cold winter day)
Exercise bike/go out for a brisk walk
Electric blanket... pennies per night to run
Make sure you insulate... foam strips, draught excluders, even bubble wrap pinned around window panes makes a difference
A few cats are handy, but can be a bit fickle Wink

I work from home and sit for most of the time so need to have heating on. I was looking for different options and our gas engineer came with a solution- the room I sit in has got a separate connection to boiler. It's got its own circuit. So I can have it in while the whole house is off. And house on when my room is off. It wasn't expensive to install, can't remember the price
