Cream sofas

I have seen in a charity shop some really nice sofas. In really good condition. Problem being they are cream/off white. The covers come off , so totally washable. I live with 2 adult kids and a mechanic for a husband. Don't want to go through the to do of dying them a different colour. I suppose I could get some throws? To buy or not, that is the question?

Hi OP. It's a qualified yes from me. Yes if you're willing and able to wash the covers regularly - say every 3 months at least? Yes if your husband gets washed and changed every work day before sitting on them? Yes if your adult children take their shoes off before putting their feet up? If not to any of those, I'd give the sofas a miss. I don't see the point of buying nice sofas, only to keep them covered with throws. Throws to me are for if you've got cats, dogs, young children, are messy eaters of TV dinners, the sofas are looking a bit worn out, or to feel cosy in winter especially if you've got leather sofas. Good on you for wanting to reuse unwanted sofas and support a charity.

I had cream sofas. Drove me wild. They showed everything. Then we had children and said bye bye to the cream.

They look beautiful. Before anyone sits on them, looks at them, breathes near them.

If you get them do not let anyone sit on them in jeans, the colour can transfer, definitely use throws!

You have answered my question. A big fat no.

Probably a good decision OP. Friends had lovely cream sofas, but despite washable covers they soon had them recovered once they had children. The new covers were, sort of, well, baby poo coloured - very sensible!

The Pink Stuff works wonders.

Thinking of brown, as the living room is going sage green and off white. Keeping all the mismatched furniture as some of it is rather old (1930's) writing desks etc
