Deep cleaning

When you read that people have deep cleaned their bathroom/kitchen/bedroom etc -- what do you take that to mean?

What do they do which means it's a DEEP clean and not just 'cleaning'.

To me a deep clean of a bathroom means washing down walls & skirting boards, painting under the loo rim with industrial limescale remover, scrubbing grouting between the tiles and scrubbing the floor, jiffing the towel rail and replacing the light pull cord. That’s in addition to the normal stuff.
It gets done once a year, normally Easter.

Yup agreed a everything out the room and cupboards clean 2x a year for us,
Steam clean and limescale removal from loo tiles bath basin grout gets a bloody good scrub if it needs it once a year paintwork gets a touch up too.
We do clean properly every week but I think kitchens and bathrooms/loo defiantly benefit from a deep clean every 6 months or so especially if you live in a very hard water area like we do

Washing walls, skirtings, pulling out and reorganising cupboards/storage, steam cleaning carpets, literally starting at the top and working your way down to do every surface. My plan for tomorrow Grin

We do a proper clean of the fridge every payday too and also check the smoke alarms then as well, I got in the habit of doing it every payday years ago when I did a big food shop once a month and smaller shops weekly and it's kind of stuck

All of the above mentioned. It usually means a load of stuff has made it into the recycling/bin/ charity bag too.

When you lot say wash the walls, do you mean tiles walls or painted walls??

Seniorschoolmum · 08/09/2018 02:14

The whole lot. Bucket of warm water, a glut of antibacterial cleaner, sponge down & leave to dry.
I have a 10yo who can spray walls with toothpaste from floor to ceiling. Smile

Seniorschoolmum · 08/09/2018 02:15

Glug, not glut ....

I wash painted walls with a micro fibre cloth and gentle disinfectant. Apart from the couple of walls that have wallpaper that is .

I had a recent cleaner in and asked for a deep clean. I basically wanted everything bleached and scrubbed, cleaned underneath, skirting boards and walls, shower cubical scrubbed. Basically I wanted it to shine! I didn't get that, I got a half hearted attempt and she said she had done everything but when I got back she hadn't even cleaned the conditioner from the shower cubics walls off or even the soap dish in their: neither had she done the walls. Was a tad miffed to say the least.

Yes - to me a deep clean is every last vestige of dirt gone.
