Condensation

Hey so I live in a bungalow double glazed, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation. I have noticed my sons room has condensation on his bedroom windows the last two mornings. I have no clue why? Nowhere else has it. I am now concerned about damp from a quick google search but no signs YET. Can anyone help me? Why now?

This is exactly why I don’t have cavity wall insulation. It prevents ventilation and causes damp.

Do you have background ventilation in the form of trickle vents?

Buildings, especially insulated, double glazed ones, need ventilation.

If there are no vents then you need to retro fit them or ensure air changes by either rapid ventilation (open window) or dehumidifiers.

My home isn't damp but on a couple of occasions there has been condensation this last week. Do you have your heating on yet? Are you ventilating regularly?
I use a dehumidifier in early autumn. It really helps

We were suffering with same thing and got double glazers round who said it happens all the time as houses naturally generate moisture. With people breathing and particularly when drying washing and the difference between outside and inside temperatures differ. Check out double glazing sites for recommendations

Definitely ventilate each day, open the window for half hour at least. It's very typical to start getting condensation now, as the temperatures dropped. Most modern houses get condensation. It could be more in your DS room if it's a colder external wall?

It's been really cold for the time of year on several mornings - probably just moisture (from breath, sweat, laundry?) condensing on the coldest surface in the room, the window.

Cavity wall insulation doesn't stop ventilation.

Hey thanks for the replies no condensation this morning however I noticed I only had a shower last night no one else and I keep the window open hubby told me he doesn't only when he finishes so I think I have found my culprit.

Don't have heating on yet as we aren't cold yet lol 17 degrees in his room last night and he slept well. We still have our summer duvet on.

I think ventilation has been our problem and the room being colder than usual definitely no damp as we bought the house two years ago and the home servey didn't pick up any and we had big wardrobe to move when we moved in as the person left them behind and nothing behind them
