Using bleach

Hi all,
I recently hired a cleaner through an agency, the agency advises/says you should not use bleach, is this pretty standard? I use bleach all the time I thought most people did?

For example I bleach the toilet daily, bleach mop the floor in kitchen/diner ever couple of days and the remaining floors weekly, bleach the bins weekly... but they aren't allowed to use this

Is there any health issues with using it? I have a 1 year old who is crawling and hard floors throughout

Thank you! X

It's pretty toxic stuff and, (I think) unnecessary and used way too much. I keep some for emergencies, but rarely use it.

Hot soapy water is enough for most stuff. Diluted vinegar when it isn't. Some disinfectant when you need to disinfect rather than just clean.

I used to bleach my old ceramic sink. Now I spray with vinegar and wipe round with salt while I unload the dishwasher. Then I wipe over the sink with a scouring pad and rinse. It looks just like it did when I used bleach.

Lots of houses have septic tanks and bleach destroys the bacteria so it isn’t surprising that they have a blanket policy of no bleach.

It’s completely unnecessary anyway. Just use normal toilet cleaner on the toilets. It’s incredibly bad for the environment.
