Washing machine efficiency

I hung some washing out for my sister yesterday when round her house it was damp but not wet. She said it always comes out machine like that.

I am thinking my 14 year old machine had had it because the wet clothes are far wetter when i hang them up to dry.

How wet is your washing when it comes out the machine?

It depends on what spin you put it on. I put mine on a 800 spin and it comes out in between wet / damp (not dripping wet). Sometimes I will put it on a 1200 spin if I have quite a few jeans and denim clothes in the wash.

Mine spins at 1400 and they come out damp but certainly not wet.

I tend to use the 1400 spin too although my machine has a 1600 as well

All depends on the programme - our machine is also very old but was expensive originally so it has a lot of features.

The delicates cycle I use it comes out very wet as it spins less.
The 30 quick wash which I use a lot is very dry in comparison and dries quickly out of the machine (which is why I use it a lot!)

The 60 that I do the towels on is slightly wetter but I think that's because it is towels.

I use the standard 40 for dirtier clothes and bedding and that is a bit wetter than the 30 for some reason - so assume it spins less? Or it might be the make up of the load.

I'd play around with your programmes/spin settings and if no joy there then perhaps get it serviced to see if there is any reason for it? It might just be old, but it could also be something really simple to fix.

add an extra spin at the end?

RoseMartha · 30/08/2018 07:05

@RoseMartha washing machines nowadays are very energy efficient. Mine is an A plus rating , so it saves on electric as well as water. You can get second hand ones in good quality and condition.
