Which do you use?
Powder/liquid or pods?

I'm currently using Ariel liquitabs. I do like them but interested in others opinions.

I’m using Persil ultimate powergems at the moment. They smell great!
I ran out of fabric softener last week so I did a few loads with out any and most clothes still smell nice.
my Oh bought Lenor mystery yesterday & that’s nice too.

bigknickersbigknockers · 26/08/2018 17:12

whatever is on offer

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/08/2018 17:21

I have powders and liquids for all events I don't believe that one can do all.

Colour powder (for dark colours)
White pods (for white clothes)
Colour liquid(for black clothes)
Some orange coloured pods(for light colors)
Sensitive wash powder
Delicates wash (clear liquid)

All Tesco or Waitrose that are non-tested .

I have a bottle of Waitrose fabric conditioner but only delicates get this

icelollycraving · 26/08/2018 18:22

I hate the liquids and tabs, I use persil powder, bio and non bio. I alternate between fairy or comfort conditioner. I also use the dettol liquid to kill bacteria, it’s useful for Ds’ sports kits which I can only wash at lower temperatures.

Cynderella · 26/08/2018 19:54

Homemade washing powder (grated soap, soda, borax and some Aldi bio powder) with a little fabric conditioner mixed with white vinegar for most loads. Usually on quick 40 degree wash but I do normal length 60 degree if needed.

Bio powder and soda for whites, animal bedding and anything needing 60 -95 degree hot wash.

ImTakingTheEssence · 26/08/2018 20:00

Daz pods anything daz really.
Really like Bold lavender
Lenor or Comfort blue/ yellow fabric conditioner
Love persil but only when on offer.

SureIusedtobetaller · 26/08/2018 20:04

Sainsburies non bio powder smells great and dead cheap. My machine doesn’t go all manky now I don’t use the liquid stuff either.

NannyR · 26/08/2018 20:05

I use lidl formil bio powder. It usually rates quite highly in Which tests, it's cheap and comes in cardboard box rather than plastic bottles and containers. I like that it doesn't have a strong scent. I don't use fabric conditioner.

ParkheadParadise · 26/08/2018 20:06

I've got a collection
Fairy Non Bio
Persil Non Bio +Bio
Daz Whites and colours.
Napisan
Lenor Spring Awakening (blue)

Canshopwillshop · 26/08/2018 20:08

Fairy non bio powder and Comfort Pure conditioner.

MountDiogenes · 26/08/2018 20:10

Tesco bio powder or tablets or Surf powder.
Fairy fab con

Jb291 · 26/08/2018 20:12

Lidl Lavender and camomile washing powder. Huge box for a fiver and smells lovely. Cleans well.

Lidl Doussy fabric conditioner. Smells gorgeous. Huge bottle for under £2.

Really impressed with both of them.

MountDiogenes · 26/08/2018 20:12

Tesco colour powder not bio

DramaAlpaca · 26/08/2018 20:13

Aldi Almat bio powder here, it smells like Ariel but is about a quarter of the price.

I don't use fabric conditioner at all, I don't find it necessary.

FoofFighter · 26/08/2018 20:14

Lidl formil with their own brand white conditioner (or Fairy occasionally as I love the smell)

PickAChew · 26/08/2018 20:15

I just buy the biggest box of daz powder I can find. Current one is 10p per wash. Everything smells fresh, minimal plastics involved and no gunk in my machine.

TheClitterati · 26/08/2018 20:25

Method super concentrated.
With a few soda crystals.

I buy the refills when they are on 3 for 2 offer and 3 refills last me a year.

TheClitterati · 26/08/2018 20:26

I don't use fabric conditioner. To me it all completely pongs.

Wanttomakemincepies · 26/08/2018 20:47

I use an ecoegg. You don't need fabric softener but I use the ecoegg one. I have a large capacity washer so use 2 eggs if full.

MrsG010814 · 26/08/2018 20:52

Aldi almat non bio and their white fabric conditioner although I do like lenor with febreeze.

SlimmingMumOf1 · 26/08/2018 21:24

I use Fairy Washing Powder and Comfort fabric conditioner.

The reason I currently use them is because Fairy was on offer in Morrison's and Comfort I get from Poundland.

Prior to that, I just used basic Aldi own brand non bio liquid and own brand fabric conditioner. They washed my clothes perfectly fine no problems at all! It just doesn't give it that lovely gorgeous smell that Fairy and Comfort does! They both last me ages as I don't need to use much of it.

MessyBun247 · 26/08/2018 21:34

I use Persil or Ariel bio liquid for colours and darks. Have also tried the Lidl liquitabs which were good.

Persil bio powder for whites. Fax is pretty good for whites too and usually cheaper. Sometimes use one of those whitening sheet things if whites need a boost.

And fabric conditioners......I love blue/yellow Comfort. Blue or green Lenor (yellow Lenor was my fave until they changed the scent Angry). Also love Fairy. And I like trying random new ones when they are on offer. I’m a bit obsessed with laundry smells Blush.

Best thing for stain removal is neat Fairy liquid.

Also clean my machine regularly to stop any gunk building up from using the liquid detergents.

cantkeepawayforever · 26/08/2018 21:42

Ecover liquid.

Whites that will not come into contact with my skin at any point - e.g. DH's shirts, DD's school blouses, the rest of the family's sheets - those 3 in 1 liquid blobby things from Persil or Ariel, handled with tongs. Double rinsed if nobody is around to help me get them out of the wash and hang them up - I'm also allergic to the inside of rubber gloves, which is inconvenient on such occasions..

No fabric conditioner, ever. It's one of the things I carry an inhaler for - to counteract my reaction to excessive fabric conditioner [plus lawn mowing, Lush shops and bonfires].

I'd like to have fully functioning skin and lungs...

EcoCleaner · 26/08/2018 22:09

Bio powder for whites & lights, liquid for dark coloureds.

Bio and non bio powder both contain oxygen based bleaching agents so they’re good for whites and light colours. They also keep your washer cleaner.

Liquids don’t contain any bleaching agents so they’re good for dark colours but not so great on whites, lights or anything that needs the extra hygiene like bedding and towels.

I usually use Persil.

BELLAARA · 26/08/2018 22:19

Aldi bio and colour powders, Fairy non bio and comfort and fairy fabric softener. Lovely combo, not to overpowering.

As an aside, when I stayed in an air BnB in Norway, they had the most amazing coconut fabric softener. Have never smelt laundry as lovely as when using that.
