sorry for the ridiculously boring post but please help me find a decent bin. Mine has been driving me up the wall because it creates a vacuum every time you try and take the bag out. Also the lid is annoyinh and the kids somehow manage to get food on the inside of the lid. Most importantly though I need a bin that doesn't take loads of shoogling to get the bag out. Thanks.

Brabantia all the way for me

Sarahplane · 26/08/2018 00:19

Any particular brabantia?

From memory it's only a choice of size? So depends on how big your space / family is - I think ours was about 30L and took a black sack. The touch push lid is amazing and bags always slide right out.

Madness now looking at cost (we purchased before DC when we had 2 full incomes and loads of disposable income!

But you use it every day and it solves all the bag-fuckery

Sensor bin like this perhaps will solve the food on inside of lid issue

I think brabantia is out of my price range.
Stupid question - do the sensor bins need batteries?

Drill a small hole in the bottom of the bin to break the airlock. Not quite the base but about an inch up in case of a leak.

I think there's not much hope with the lid just get one with a plastic lid you can stick in the dishwasher.

bargain!

I bought the bin from Dunelm Mill to replace a Brabantia bin. I love it!

do the sensor bins need batteries?
Yes, usually either AAs or AAAs

Viviene · 26/08/2018 20:57

Unfortunately all my bins are Barabantia and I love them. So can recommend Brabantia but maybe try to find one in sales?

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 27/08/2018 10:55

If you can find a Brabantia in your budget they are so worth it. I've had mine 14 years now and the only issue I've ever had is the catch for the lid broke about 6 years ago so it wouldn't stay down and they replaced it completely free, no hassle at all.

LBOCS2 · 28/08/2018 15:04

Yeah, we replaced our kitchen bin with a 60l brabantia last year and DH and I literally walked around for days telling each other how happy it was making us. They really are very good.

welshmist · 28/08/2018 15:10

If there is a vacuum drill holes in the bottom. I gave up on posh, buy cheap and bin the lids, cleaning them is gross and time consuming.

Oblomov18 · 28/08/2018 15:38

I've never had anything other than a brabantia bin, so wouldn't know. eBay?
