Boring thread- how do you store baking items?

Such as flour, sugar, etc. Currently all sat in the bags. I have only been baking for bithdays but now the kids are going to be at school full time i will have more time to bake. I have tonnes of bits and bobs, like cookie cutter and piping bags, etc. I did once get a bunch of cupcake boxes and organise everything but you cant really clean them and when DH or the kids bake without me they squish the boxes.
Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. I should add, budget is tiny. Almost non existant.

I only have shelves, and not cupboards so flour, sugar etc is in tupperware style boxes to keep them dry. I have a couple of large lidded plastic boxes for equipment that I don't use often. They're on top of the fridge/freezer.

When we moved house i claimed one cupboard as a baking cupboard. Bottom shelf has the scales, mixing bowls and baking pans, and things like cookie cutters and measuring cups are in the mixing bowls to keep them contained so I can just grab the bowl I need. Top shelf I bought three of the small mesh baskets from home bargains or b&m, I forget which, I have sugar, cocoa and flavourings in one, raising agents, yeast and other tubs of stuff in another, and nuts, seeds, dried fruit etc in the third. They fit on one side of the top shelf of the cupboard in order of use (nuts in the back, then raising agents, then sugar at the front). Flours of all kinds stay in their packets on the other side of the shelf, but I will get jars eventually.

Sugars are in jars, flour I find keeps best in the bag provided it's clipped shut with one of those clippy clips you can get for bags.

I have a massive collection of baking pans which are just stacked in the bottom corner cupboard, with the ones I like best towards the front. I had a cull yesterday and took some that I don't use to the charity shop.

flour and sugar just in a high cupboard - not a low one since we had silverfish.

Cookie cutters, piping bags etc - do you get things like nectarines, grapes, tomatoes in those thin see-through rectangular boxes? I reckon they'd do the job. Or use one of your cake tins for storing the bits and bobs, and just decant them into a mixing bowl for a few days if you need the tin. I've been converted by Kondo into re-using what I have. I also have some small upright cereal storage plastic boxes from the pound shop, which do fine for occasionally used stuff like candles, sprinkles, cutters, and are really efficient in the cupboard.

I've just started baking so ingredients all go in their packets inside an IKEA clear Samla box with lid

They do smaller ones about half size which would be good for cutters etc and would stack.
Just noticed they do inserts to divide the boxes too

I have my everyday flour (for my daily pancakes) pasta etc in the IKEA mason type jars

I bought DH a small waffle maker so that and the ingredients for him to make waffles are all in a Samla box too - I love a container/box!!!

I keep flour in lock and lock boxes since I discovered a bag infested with mites a few years ago. Cookie cutters etc are in a bit box in the top cupboard. I have a baking cupboard with all my ingredients in. I’m about to claim another cupboard for equipment which is scattered everywhere right now.

I have a whole set of 1980s vintage Tupperware I stole inherited from my mum that looks like this....but with red lids. I have several of the oblong ones in different heights and some round ones. They stack and fit in the cupboard neatly. They make me so happy lol

Wide rectangular 'tupperware' (and ideally get from Lakeland or something so you know they're not going to discontinue the range when you need more yes I'm talking about you ASDA). Big enough to put a whole bag of flour at least in. I label mine with sticky chalkboard labels.
Also good for your cutters as you can see them straight away.

I have two long shelves in my cupboard under the stairs (accessed from the kitchen). Everything is in either airtight containers or glass jars. Spices etc are in a hanging shelf thing on the back of the door.
Everything's visible and accessible, very simple and cheap!

icelollycraving · 26/08/2018 18:24

All in glass Kilner jars. I had a weevil infestation years ago and it has made me a bit anal about it.

Containers with push button tops to make a good seal. Think they are OXO ones.
