Buying a bed for a child

DD is still in a cot and we're planning to move her into a bed before her third birthday (later this year). Already have a bed rail so intended to buy a normal single bed for her.

Except I've started looking around and discovered that some beds for sale say 'child compliant' but then are stated to be unsuitable for a child under four. So where do I find a single bed that is suitable? I wanted one with space under it for storage as her room isn't big. Don't want to get a toddler bed as the mattresses seem to be the same size as the cot and she's quite large so wouldn't be in it long.

I think child compliant is for when the headboards have gaps in (like metal bar ones and wooden slat ones) as some gaps would allow a young child to trap their head between the bars.

As long as the head board is child compliant or completely solid and it's not a mid/high cabin bed then there shouldn't be any issue, just pick a bed to like.

Children's Bed Centres have a good selection of beds, including storage beds, They are not cheap, but they are very solid!

Brilliant, thank you. The one we're looking at it is in a local shop so I will pop there and checks the slats. It does have slats in the headboard thing but the gaps are tiny so hopefully ok.
