how do you get blood stains out?

My dp put his blood soaked/dripping t-shirt (don't ask) into the wool wash with a load of white things. The rest of the wash has now had blood stains washed into them. Any advice on what to do now as I assume the soak in cold water won't work.
Help?

Cold water won't work now - the hot wash will have set the stain.

You can buy Stain Devils which are supposed to be good for removing blood stains but I'm not sure what else you could try.

(I have to ask though ... what did he do?)

You could try a cold water wash with biological washing powder, and a dash of that oxi vanish stuff if you've got it.

Or I have a feeling that the Good HouseKeeping website has a 'stains' forum or hotline you could contact

i would soak it all in biotex or similar overnight

Blood
If the stain is fresh, rinse immediately with cold water and wash in Ariel following the fabric care label. For an older, more stubborn stain treat with Ace Vivactive Washbooster. Soak in Ariel for 2 hours. Wash as normal following the fabric care label.
This is what my OH would recomend as he works in the appliance industry and has tested all stain removal methods with Proctor and Gamble.

dissolve a whole cup of washing powder in hot water then add cold until water is totally cold. soak overnight then wash as normal. even if the stain has set in this may still work - good luck!

We've got vanish - will that work if I use it first before soaking?

salt - but can't remember why.

Skribble · 03/06/2007 22:54

loads of salt in cold water, pour the salt straight onto the worst bits and keep rinsing when the salt goes pink.
