Bathroom Spruse Up

Ok want to refresh my bathroom but can’t afford new suite or tiles. So putting new vinyal floor down (only small), freshening up paint on the none tiled walls, and towel rail. But has anyone got any tips on how to clean the tiles and the grout to get them looking fresh again - especially the grout!

I would re grout, easier than scrubbing with Bleach/toothpaste/baking soda or whatever. Wipe as you go and its simple. What sort of tiles do you have?

Is it easy to regroup, they look like small mosaic tiles but actually come on attached to each other so the size of bigger tiles...if that makes sense

Are you fitting the vinyl floor yourself? I am tempted to do the same...what's the worst that coukd happen?

Other half fitting floor, he has done it previously for his mum and it looked fine so hopefully he can do it again!

Try and get hold of hypochlorite- it's a very very strong bleach mainly used by dairy farmers to clean down their parlours after milking. You can quite often get it from garden centres because people use it to clean patio slabs, external walls etc.

Get a squirty bottle (something like an old kitchen cleaner bottle) and make a heavily diluted solution and spray it all over your tiles. Leave it for a few hours then wash it down thoroughly and I guarantee your tiles and grout will look brand new with barely no effort. We use it around the sealent and on the plastic shower try as well, literally dissolves any mildew, mould etc.

Be extremely careful not to get it on any fabrics etc, even a really dilute solution will bleach the hell out of anything and ruin it. We use it on the floor tiles too, so if you do that be really careful not to walk on it and then walk on your carpet. Ventilate the room as well. Not sure what effect it would have on enamel, so if you have an enamel bath take ca e. Fine on plastic and glass though.

Astonish mold and mildew remover. Used it on grout of tiled floor in rental that looked like it had black grout until we washed the floor and it went patch brown, grey and black (thankfully this was prior to moving in). The astonish mold and mildew remover was recommended by a friend and the results were amazing. The grout was clean white.
