Messy bathroom

Tips please. Our family bathroom constantly looks a mess. My stuff included. Was sitting on side of bath just looking ...all day clothes piled on towel stand. No towels on stand. Washing falling out of washing basket. Toothpaste on floor. Rubbish falling out of bin. Any great tips besides tidy it.

Definitely ban clothes from bathroom unless in basket. Ban towels from bedrooms. Depending on age of kids, maybe give one of them the chore of emptying the bin, bringing down washing and putting it in machine, generally tidying up.

Lower your standards and accept it or be prepared to nag constantly - always harder to break bad habits than instil good ones.

Have less stuff or more storage or both.

Essentially, make changes rather than clearing up after them all, but it needs perseverance and that's easier said than done.

I’m quite slovenly usually but while the weather has been so good I’ve been doing a load of washing a day, that seems to stop the laundry baskets getting too full.

Have you got a DH or DC you could enlist in bin emptying duties? That’s my pet hate.

Do more washing.

Empty your bin more often.

Not difficult tasks!

I’d aim for a clear floor/surfaces. Even if there’s toothpaste on the floor after that it’s not going to look a tip -

Hooks on the back of the door so kids can hang their own towels (towel rail is difficult for my kids but yours maybe older)
Something that each person can sweep their bottles into? Hanging washbag or a drawer of a storage unit? Or a big basket with a lid next to the bath. I find people are more inclined to put things away if it’s quick/easy

Washing basket - crack down to ensure clean clothes don’t go in there. Then aim for a load of washing a day (or stand on the washing to make sure the lid shuts which is not something over ever done 😂)
Bin - is there somebody that can be recruited to empty it once a week? Perhaps for pocket money bribery?
