God have been waiting for someone to ask a cleaning question so that I can recommend my new obsession.

Get an E-Cloth. They are amazing for inside and downstairs windows. No smears, no chemicals, minimum elbow grease.

They're expensive (ish) I think about 4 quid, but you can wash them 300 times, so worth it.

And with that exciting revelation I'm off to do some work...

I was going to recommend a microfibre cloth too, McNoodle - I have this set and the yellow one is brilliant - just use with water, and it's really quick and easy, for inside and out.

heifer · 30/05/2007 11:03

really, and just online at Lakeland and have clicked on an e cloth!.... didn't think about it for windows, so an added bonus..

so I don't need anything but water with them?

I think you can use cleaning stuff with them, but it's not really necessary, unless something's really greasy, I guess.

E-cloth is the brand name of a certain type of microfibre cloth.

JackieNo · 30/05/2007 11:06

E-cloth. Also available in supermarkets.

heifer · 30/05/2007 11:07

cheers jackieno - have also clicked on your link...

So far spent ... 10 items - £56.72

um. this is fun!... (hell what has happened to me....)

please see my next post (how to clean wooden floors)....

Ooh - heifer, you can get a free wash ball for spending over £55 (just received a Lakeland catalogue this morning, I don't normally know offhand the free gifts, honest)

JackieNo · 30/05/2007 11:11

Oh, and for wooden floors, as long as they're sealed (waxed or varnished) microfibre mops are great, but I noticed this in the latest catalogue, which is cheaper, and does the same thing. I also have one of these for dry mopping, though you can also use the microfibre ones dry. (I should be on commission)

heifer · 30/05/2007 11:13

JackieNo - what do you do with a washball??

You use it instead of washing powder or liquid - here. Haven't tried them myself, mind.

I cleaned Dh's car last week & used good old fashioned newspaper for the windows & they gleamed a treat. I was well impressed. Used soapy water to clean & then rubbed down with the newspaper after. No smears! Great!
