Everhot/heating

Does anybody have an Everhot? I’m trying to understand how much heat they give out. Is it enough to warm a small kitchen in winter without any other heating (rads etc) in the room? The rest of the house will be on CH.

Thanks.

I have a 60 in a kitchen which is about 10x12 ft and I have the radiator in there turned off all year round as I don’t need it. I have it on eco during this hot weather and it’s been fine. I had an aga in a previous house and that was awful in hot weather.

We've got a 150 ( I think, without googling, it's the four oven two hob one, without induction)
Love it and only have one half on most of the time. I've noticed its warmth in the recent weather but normally don't. However, if we've turned it off when we've be away in cooler weather, the kitchen feels dead without the gentle warmth it provides even though it isn't heating it. We also have underfloor heating as our kitchen is large and we have limestone tiles.

Had an aga in the last kitchen and it was much hotter ( and way more ££ to run)
So, for me it depends on kitchen size and flooring. Tiles or stone, you'd need other heat but wood probably not.

Oooh, thanks for this thread. I have been dreaming about an Everhot 60 for years and finally am getting close to doing my kitchen.

My worry is whether the kitchen will be too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter without additonal heat. House generally tends towards being freezing cold. If I turn off the Everhot in the summer, will I want an induction hob?

Thanks, everyone. We have a fairly small kitchen in a London terrace so shouldn’t be too hard to keep warm.

M, I’m concerned about that too. At least with an Everhit you can turn them off. I’m trying to work out whether I can fit in a small separate cooker for summer.

That should say “AM”.

I think I've understood that you can't turn the Everhot completely off in the summer as they rust up but you can turn all the areas to very low and the heat they give out then is small. You can turn an Aga right off. In the winter in a small kitchen the 60 seems warm enough to me. I have it on low right now and turn it up in the evening to cook and that takes 30-60 mins. I bought the induction hob that sits on the worktop from Everhot which is very expensive and I think a cheap one would do just as well. I do use it but it won't take big pans so then I turn up the Everhot. It's very flexible and easy to use, best cakes I've ever made! There are two Facebook groups who are a mine of info if you use Facebook.

Bimmy my friend who has an Aga turns hers off in summer and uses a small electric oven if she needs an oven. I don't really don't want to go down the road of buying a giant luxury appliance and then needing a backup for the summer!

Think I would be happy to have 2 induction rings as I don't use the oven much in summer but DH already thinks I'm crazy. Luckily it's not his money so he has precisely no say in the matter. Plus he wants to eat the cakes Wink

@threads123, I turn my everhot off all the time, use one half for a few months till it gets grubby, then switch to other side. I clean the used side once cool and leave oven doors ajar till dried thoroughly. Never gets rusty done that way. Only once that has happened, when I cleaned and closed the ovens too soon. But it was only surface staining rust marks and they burnt off when oven got used again.

threads123 · 15/07/2018 08:23

Thanks I’ll try that!

Greenwomanofmay · 15/07/2018 08:26

Ours heats a large kitchen diner unless it’s really cold. We turn it off on the hottest days no rusting issues

AnnaMagnani · 15/07/2018 08:48

Hmm. DH has just discovered the Everhot plan. He doesn't understand why we can't have a Belling oven like his mum had and is wittering about electricity prices and peak oil.

Me pointing out I've wanted the Everhot longer than I've wanted him hasn't helped.

I have had an Everhot 100i for over 8 years and still love it. I'm sure I read somewhere it gives out approx. 0.5Kwh if that helps.
