Cat pee!

We own a flat that we rent out. Previous tenant rented it for 10 years and has just moved out. It needs redecorating, new carpets and kitchen so we are getting on with that.
Main problem is that we have found about three areas where cat pee has soaked through the carpet and into the wooden floorboards. These are wet and very smelly. Obviously we can dry them out but how do I get rid of the smell?
I'm testing a patch with a thick layer of bicarbonate, and another with a dousing of zoflora.
Any better ideas would be gratefully received.

Bicarb and vinegar. The zoflora is unnecessary.

White vinegar and bicarb liberally!!! You may need to consider sanding the floorboards if they are soaked through and the smell remains.

Morning. Thank you both for replying - a unanimous vote for vinegar and bicarb - both of which I have in the house.

Make a paste and sponge it in. Leave for a while and wipe off.
Vinegar is brilliant for shifting smells. White or malt is fine.

Spray with a solution of biological washing powder - the enzymes break down the odour

Pets at home sell a product called simple solution Cat Stain and Odour remover. It's in a blue bottle, and they do a spray or a large refill bottle. I just buy the refills and decant as needed. Don't get the litter spray though, this is specifically for smells and patches. You have to let the patch dry, then fully saturate the area with the liquid and let it sit until dry. Removed the smell from under our tiles when the cat went outside the litter tray. Not the most pleasant smell itself, kinda like baby powder, but better than cat pee and easily removed with an open window after its dry.

Simple solution worked well when my dad had an accident on our carpet. But i also used bicarb and vinegar and biological washing powder beforehand
