Tea towels...

I generally buy the tea towels that are like actual towels - looped / terry towelling? They absorb water for drying up and have a rough texture for cleaning.

The pretty tea towels with pictures /patterns that are made from cotton material what are they for?

What do you use tea towels for?

Do you mean the old fashioned kind? Not so sure about pictures and patterns unless you mean the sort that you can buy on holiday in tourist shops. I prefer traditional glass cloth type tea towels because I think they're better for drying glasses and cutlery. I don't like the ones that you describe, but it's just a personal preference.

I don't use tea towels for anything other than drying the washing up or what comes out of the dishwasher wet.

I try to buy only linen tea towels because they are better for drying, especially glasses. Picture ones are fine for drying, as long as they are linen. Glass cloths are the best. The terry toweling ones leave lots of fibres on things and don’t dry well at all in my experience. Once the linen ones are worn out (takes about 20 years) they are excellent for drying windows without streaks. I only use tea towels for drying dishes.

Folded over to get things out of oven. I don't use oven gloves.
