Moths, moths and more moths! Help!

I see the little moths everywhere and yesterday found two of my son's woollen jumpers full of holes. I am worried about a new cashmere Boden cardigan that I haven't worn yet. I don't want to find it full of moth holes when it's cold enough to wear it. Someone told me not to put it in a sealed plastic bag but I just read online that I should put it in a sealed bag? Mothballs will make it stink. Any suggestions wise mumsnetters?

Freeze everything if it can't be washed at over 60 degrees Celsius..

Empty all the cupboards.

Deep clean to the very nth degree.

Shift furniture to clean around and under.

Take out drawers and clean the back of wardrobes and chests.

Be brutal about getting rid of old clothes.

Don't keep clothes packed away in the dark because that's what the little fuckers luuurve.

Keep clothes clean. Never put worn clothes away in the wardrobe - always hang them out to air.

Light, air and disturbance disrupt the moth larvae.

Inspect clothes thoroughly on a regular basis.

Don't have so many clothes where this is impossible.

Bag up the clothes and put them in the freezer for 24 hours.
You need to vacuum everywhere, spray carpet and fabric moth killer everywhere and spray every room. Open cupboards and wardrobes before you spray.
Put moth repellent sachets in drawers and cupboards. The lavender and cedar wood ones smell ok.
I took everything out and damp dusted with the fabric spray first.
There is a plague of moths atm.

You do have to keep on top of it. Just when you think you are winning, another lot hatches. I have given up on woollen clothes for now. I have washed and vacuum packed everything with moth killer tablets. I will wash them again when I unpack them for winter.
Then there are the carpets...

You need to find the source. We had moths for months, just a few every day. I did all the hoovering, etc. They kept coming. One day went into the depths of the understairs cupboard and found an old hessian bag which was alive with moth larvae. Hundreds of them. Got rid of that, scrubbed the cupboard, put a moth trap in there, sprayed in there. No more moths.
