So I've started on The Organised Mum Method. Bootcamping and have only managed the kitchen so far but have literally cleaned every surface, tile, nook and cranny and sorted it all out. It's taken 2 days but it looks so much better. And I know that I can keep it staying that way if I keep up with the 30 mins in there every week.

But I have the rest of the house to do too! Living room is next and it's in a worse state. I'm sure lots of mumsnetters must follow this, in fact I'm sure this is where I found out about it. Give me motivation people to keep going, tell me how it's changed your life!!

I'm going to go and check it out right now.

Me!! I am. It's great

mozzybites · 17/06/2018 03:36

I started this few months back, I'm a bit stop start but I like the structure and the permission to stop.

DownUdderer · 17/06/2018 03:57

I’m googling it right now:)

TheClitterati · 20/06/2018 17:19

I looked at it over the weekend and thought Yeah!
I didn't do 30 min in living room on Wednesday or whatever it was on Tuesday and Wednesday isn't looking great either (I'm about to go out and won;t be back until late).

Good news if we have friends coming to stay this weekend so I will run round like a mad thing on Friday eve and get it all done.

I used to do FlyLady (is that similar) and many of the routines have stuck. Although I don't follow it to the letter, I do use the principles. It definitely helps to have a structure to follow.

I've never heard of TOMM. Things have slipped a bit since I've been working full time. I reckon a new system might be the motivation I need. I particularly like the sound of bootcamp.

Is it a book or a website?

chloechloe · 20/06/2018 21:40

It's The Organised Mum Method which is on the internet - either as a blog or there is a FB Page apparently.

I've recently started looking at it but haven't put anything into practice. We have a cleaner who comes once a week so fortunately the house gets cleaned regularly but the tidying up is never ending and there are so many big jobs that need doing. Perhaps Bootcamp would be a good way to sort out each room!

mozzybites · 20/06/2018 21:47

I used to do fly lady, they do have a fair bit in common but I gave up fly lady when her political enthusiasm for trump filled my Facebook.

ProjectGainsborough · 20/06/2018 22:24

Ooh ooh! I started doing this 2 weeks ago and it’s made a massive difference. Everything just feel more under control and I’m not Blush if anyone drops by.

I do worry that I’m going to fall off the bandwagon like I did with flylady, so I’d be up for a support thread!

Been following it for nearly a month now and it works for me. I do spend more than 30 minutes in each room though, but I'm noticing it is getting quicker, so maybe once I'm truly organised it'll only take half an hour. The biggest difference is that the children's rooms have stayed tidy - after the boot camp in there I've insisted they put stuff away every night before they go to bed, so when it's bedroom day I can get in and clean without having to tidy first. They spend more time in there now so they don't mess the rest of the house up either Definitely feeling more in control with a better balance of housework vs me time! Now I've cracked the housework, I'm going to dust off the slow cooker and try some of her recipes, the videos on her blog are great 👍

I follow it, although I have been a bit slack with the Friday Focus! But I've just moved so everything is still fairly clean and decluttered anyway.

One tweak I've made is to do bathrooms on a Wednesday with the halls and stairs. I just can't do bathrooms daily as a 'tier 1' job! (Although toilets get cleaned everyday).

winterwonderly · 22/06/2018 12:58

I'm slowly getting there. Haven't been able to do bootcamp in a week but am slowly bootcamping all the rooms and once one is done, then it's on the weekly 30 minute schedule to keep on top of it. I'm loving the daily playlists, I just pop it on and it gives me some motivation to get on with it. I'm feeling much more in control of everything even if it is still a work in progress. I even zofloraed the fridge and it smells lovely!!

I'm going to try some more of the recipes, I did the Thai red prawn curry and it was really yummy and so simple to make, it's definitely being added to my favourite recipes!

Just started it! Bootcamped the kitchen yesterday although the more I clean, the more dirt I find! I'm also in the midst of a major declutter. I did the konmari method a while ago and then lapsed on that so I'm trying to re-konmari my house as well as clean. I'm just sick of this mess and determined to become a proper grown up!
