If I wanted to replace a 14 year old dyson

What should I go for?

Similar build quality and power of an old dyson, can't afford Sebo level.

Thanks

I really struggled when mine was like this, I ended up getting a new Dyson after a failed attempt with another make but honestly I would have been much better off getting the original one serviced. We have a chap near us called the Vac doctor.

We've already replaced the motor a year or so ago. It's now overheating and cutting out.

I know new ones aren't a patch on this one hence looking at alternatives.

I miss my Dyson Animal Ball. Sadly it had to go when the catch broke on the main body and we couldn't get it upright again without loads of peeing about with it.

I replaced it with a Shark Duo Clean which was on offer at £200. It's pretty good. I like the attachments and the fact that it doesn't push large bits around as it has a brush roller front rather than a plastic front. This doesn't help though when I want to vacuum near wires. When I used to shove stuff away with the hoover it was fine with the Dyson. Its taken a few months but I've learned.

It's a really, really good vacuum cleaner and very easy to use but I do miss my Dyson sometimes.

Well my advice won’t help, was going to say anything but a Dyson!

But seriously, I know you said budget doesn’t allow a Sebo, but they really are fab machines (I have 2), have you looked on something like eBay for a good quality used model, or even a reconditioned one?

This site seems to specialise in reconditioned cleaners, I’ve never used them, but the site does look professional and uses the https security technology and also accepts PayPal payment who ALWAYS cover you if something goes wrong with a seller.

I think that your filters are blocked.
The air flow is restricted and the cut out operates when the motor gets too hot.
Buy replacements either the Dyson originals or similar from Ebay. Make sure you release all the filters as some models have two.

Shark here too. I have the liftaway. I much prefer it to my old dyson
